The NGS wars continue! Here comes the second part of my closer look at Illumina vs. Element Biosciences. It's an analysis in which scenarios Aviti can replace Novaseq. The results are WILD. Congrats Molly He to the next round of funding for Element btw! Thanks Alex Dickinson for pointing out that in some instances, Novaseq still has an edge; but in Novaseq mid and low market, Aviti eats its lunch. Looks like Aviti will be in pole position for the next big growth phase for the genomics industry (decentralization of all testing into hospitals). Even though a great recent chat with Thermo Fisher Scientific may lead to some unexpected turns... Disclaimer: Quantgene currently uses both Illumina and Aviti and has no other affiliation beyond that with either one. My interest is to find the NGS platform with the best performance / price / capex ratio, given a set of throughput and turnaround time requirements.
