Lead gen ≠ paid ads Yes, I said it 😅 Here's why* 👇 You gotta get your B2B organic efforts cranking FIRST Utilize what worked for your best customers: - Bring their voice, experience, and phrasing - Into your outbound - Tweak the message - Tweak the imagery - Tweak the medium - Test the channels This keeps spend low and allows deep, accurate learnings to emerge over time. Allows you to shore up your systems Get your internal processes working Get ready for scale. And be READY to run paid ads To what is already proven out. And maximize ROI. *The only reason I recommend paid ads to a startup or scaleup company BEFORE they have learnings from organic Is if they have a ton of money to spend + a short runway. Paid ads will get you learnings fast But you have to test a ton of creative And be willing to spend on things that don't bear fruit. Withstand the financial drain and tests that fall flat. It can be costly. That's why - if budget is an issue (Which let's face it - it usually is for Marketing, and early-stage companies) Then put in the work to convert ORGANICALLY first Look for learnings and signals there BEFORE you pour the gasoline of paid ads on a spark Because whatever issues you have in your setup and landing pages and creative and internal processes Will simply be magnified 10X by throwing paid ads on top of it 😱 Lead gen = doing ALL of the other stuff first To match message and visuals to audience Before adding fuel to the fire. 🔥

Cold Emails vs. Paid Ads: Which Strategy Wins? Cold emailing has been a go-to strategy for a while now. By leveraging the law of averages, you can estimate how many prospects might respond—but with smarter tech and stricter domain filters, deliverability issues are becoming a real headache. On the flip side, paid ads can offer quick visibility, but if not managed carefully, they can drain your budget fast and lead to high churn rates. So, what’s the winning strategy for you? Is it the targeted reach of cold emails or the broader exposure of paid ads? 🤔 Let’s hear your thoughts!👇

Top 4 Lead Gen Formulas with Paid Ads: Paid advertising can supercharge your lead generation efforts. Here are 5 formulas to consider: 1. Paid Search with Landing Pages: Target: Use keyword research to identify search terms with high purchase intent related to your offering. Ad Platform: Utilize platforms like Google Ads to create targeted search ads using these keywords. Landing Page: Craft compelling landing pages that address the specific search query and offer a valuable lead magnet (free trial, consultation). Paid Ads + Landing Page Combo: Drive qualified traffic from search ads directly to conversion-focused landing pages for lead capture. 2. Social Media Ads with Lead Capture Forms: Target: Leverage the powerful audience targeting options on platforms like Facebook, LinkedIn, or Instagram. Ad Format: Design engaging ad formats (images, videos) that resonate with your target audience. Lead Capture Forms: Include lead capture forms directly within the ad itself to minimize friction (pre-fill with known user data if possible). Benefits: Streamline the process and capture leads without requiring users to leave the platform. 3. Remarketing Ads for Website Visitors: Target: Reconnect with website visitors who have shown interest but haven't converted. Platform & Data: Utilize retargeting features on ad platforms. Leverage website visitor data for targeted advertising. Ad Content: Craft personalized ads reminding them of your brand and offering a relevant lead magnet or special promotion. Benefits: Re-engage a warm audience who is already familiar with your brand, increasing lead conversion chances. 4. Content Promotion with Paid Ads: Target: Promote your high-quality content (blogs, articles, videos) to a wider audience using paid advertising on relevant platforms. Ad Formats: Utilize engaging ad formats with compelling headlines and visuals to grab attention. Need a low-budget, scalable Paid Ads framework to help your company grow? Here’s what I currently do for Fibbler, helping us achieve a 40-60% increase in MRR on a monthly basis: 1️⃣ Google Ads I allocate around 20% of the budget here. I’m still figuring out which keywords generate the highest-quality signups, focusing on those related to LinkedIn Ads tools/software. To start, I use exact match for all keywords and prioritize max clicks. I'll likely switch to tCPA bidding as we gather more data. This approach generates direct signups, but more importantly, it grows our retargeting audience for LinkedIn Ads. 2️⃣ LinkedIn Ads I dedicate about 80% of the budget to LinkedIn. Approximately 4/5 of this budget goes into thought leadership ads. I select my most engaging organic posts each month and incorporate them into this framework. Cold layer 👉 I focus thought leadership ads on the pain points I experience, which hopefully resonate with my audience. I have two primary personas: demand generation and heads of marketing. I use account lists (implemented in HubSpot) where all accounts have the LinkedIn Ads Pixel installed. I KNOW this correlates highly with paid customers for us. Retargeting layer 👉 I shift focus to in-depth product walkthroughs and explanations, still using thought leadership ads. Here, I also add a layer of more conversion-driven image ads. Note: I use text ads for both layers to keep our brand visible at all times and consistently reinforce our pain point messaging around the idea that "People don’t click on ads." 3️⃣ Fibbler Since I have account lists in HubSpot, I send all LinkedIn Ads data to HubSpot at the company level. I have reporting set up to identify which companies engage most with our ads. When they reach a certain threshold, I initiate an email workflow to talk about frequently asked questions and common roadblocks. E.g. data security. Apart from that, I also track how much of our direct traffic/offline sources are influenced by impressions from our LinkedIn Ads. P.S. If you want to understand how LinkedIn Ads impressions influence your pipeline and revenue, while turning engagement data into actionable intent signals for your ABM program, check out https://www.fibbler.co/.
