[EMR and EHR in Indonesia] Recalling my first publication in the world of health law, I remembered one of my concerns in Indonesian Electronic Medical Record (EMR) was that regulation and technicality barriers were rather prevalent; laws that were not robust, strategic plans that were hyper-focused on the supposed "end-results", and data breaches were just the tip of the iceberg. I discussed the legality and challenges of EMR in the following e-proceeding from 2022, which I think is still relevant to the current healthcare landscape.

Hello Canadian Professional, I have two questions regarding healthcare law regulation here in Canada. 1. Is it against the law ( not the internal hospital’s policies !!) for patients to review their own chart and request copies of their medical records while admitted to a hospital or emergency room? 2. Are medical professionals legally obligated to document medical errors or mistakes in patient charts accurately and promptly? Thank you for your time!

On 26 July 2024, the government of Indonesia issued Government Regulation No. 28 of 2024 ("GR 28"), which is an implementing regulation of Law No. 17 of 2023 on Health ("Health Omnibus Law"). GR 28 came into effect on the day it was issued. GR 28 regulates the same main principles as the Health Omnibus Law, but adds more depth and details. It contains 1,172 articles, a lot more than the Health Omnibus Law's 458 articles. GR 28 revokes 31 regulations at both the government and presidential levels, although implementing regulations of the revoked regulations remain in effect as long as they do not contradict the provisions of GR 28.
