>>The role of the mainstream media in recent years has come in for closer scrutiny by ordinary people, as the reportage of the Ukraine conflict, the Gaza conflict, and other troublesome issues that can have several points of view have served to highlight. The first two conflicts are egregious examples of such bias and manipulated reporting. >>Would this just be a case of poor journalistic values and ethics? Or could there be consequences for us as citizens, as politicians, as leaders of countries who may then take the wrong decisions in dangerous situations? The continued support and military supplies to Ukraine, when there should be strong moves to negotiate a ceasefire, is a case in point. The actions of the mainstream media in the collective West have imposed a total censorship on any attempt to present a different viewpoint, to the extent that politicians and commentators are hesitant to go out and express themselves freely. #media #politics #ethics #values Souvik RoyShalini WarrierIndraneel Pandit, FRMSanjesh KumarParan BalakrishnanPradip Phanjoubam

In this tortured, agitated, broken region, there still is a way to avoid the worst. It is by bringing back to the forefront the heart of the matter, the issue that has been around for a century and a half of conflict, the issue that many Israelis want to forget: the Palestinians’ basic political rights. Unless the Palestinians’ right to a state of their own alongside Israel is recognised and materially implemented, they will not cease to be a source of (fully legitimate) disruption, making their life and that of their neighbours impossible. If history is of any use, it teaches us that the use of force to settle complex political issues is always sterile and often counter-productive. If you’re going to read anything on the current Middle East crisis… you could do a lot worse than this.

There is no future for Israel (and similarly for Palestine) based on the narrative of its radicals..... anyone who wants to claim territory exclusively for themselves will only find eternal war, violence and further destruction, whereas the moderates at both sides hold the key to peace by non-violent interaction and dialog as equals. Since Gaza has been carpet bombed, chances on a two-state solution have anyway become minimal. The only way out of the conflict is thus to learn to coexist as equals and to share the country as one-state. There is in principle space for all (https://lnkd.in/dGTAtn6V, interesting data and interesting plan for the return of all displaced Palestinians). Practically, it means in my opinion to go back to the times of Canaan and establish (democratic) autonomous communities and spread them over the entire territory of Canaan. These autonomous communities can coexist and come together in a confederation of communities, sharing the country. There is space for all cultural identities this way. Currently, such scenario seems very far fetched, but, the Palestinians belong to Canaan and nobody outside is waiting for another exodus. www.canaan.community & www.pax.ngo & www.convergence.ngo

WOW 🚨 if the price of reaching peace agreements is a Palestinian state , then I give up the peace agreements ! There will be no Palestinian state point! QUDS News Network Eli Cohen, Israeli Minister, writes today in response to recognitions of the State of Palestine by #Norway, #Ireland and #Spain: “From the river to the sea, there will be one state: The State of Israel.” From the river to the sea! And these are not words, this is the official policy of Israel! @MajedBamya

Dear Colleagues, As a fragile ceasefire holds along Israel’s northern border, I reflect on how history’s lessons could guide today’s policymakers. In my latest article for Haaretz, I explore parallels between Israel’s strategies during Lebanon’s Civil War and its current approach to Hezbollah. What lessons can Israel draw from its past missteps? And how can it move beyond short-term solutions to address the deeper regional dynamics? This piece delves into the complexities of Israel’s relationship with Lebanon, the rise of Hezbollah, and the pivotal role of regional players like Iran. It’s a critical moment to reassess strategies and avoid repeating historical pitfalls. If you find the article insightful, please share it with others who might be interested. In the meanwhile, enjoy the read! Best regards, Zach

I feel whenever we open the news we always come across some form of geopolitical problem. This is relevant for the energy market. With Iran being one of the biggest exporters of oil, this news will only cause pricing to spike on energy costs - we have seen that with the Ukraine/Russia war and again with the Israel/Hamas war and let's not forget the Houthi rebels attacking shipping lanes off the coast of Yemen causing ships to then go round the horn of Africa. This has all led to higher prices for businesses in the UK. What I suggest would be to have the support in managing the whole energy accounts, to advise and support the business around hard times like these. At Direct Business Group, we can provide a whole 360 support of your business energy setup from Strategy, sustainability to monitoring solutions to help reduce costs over the contracts. Daniel Hagari, "Israel's" military spokesman hasn't said anything remotely true about the genocide in Gaza. He is a proven genocidal maniac; yet even he echoed her sentiments. In his words, "Hamas is an idea, Hamas is a party. It’s rooted in the hearts of the people anyone who thinks we can eliminate Hamas is wrong.” We know now it was never about the hostages and Hamas can't be defeated. As Israels true casualty number begin to emerge (It's much more than they report) so will the sincere thoughts of various military members, that see the writing on the wall. The zionist onslaught only continues because of Netanyahu's self-serving political agenda, genocidal retribution, and the further illegal spread of the ethnostates territories. "An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure” -Benjamin Franklin The United States has to stop its tendency of being complicit or directly invading another peoples land. And trying to destroy a governmental ideology under the guise of morality. Never forget the outcome of the 20 year "War On Terror"/destruction of the Taliban in Afghanistan. -$2.3 trillion spent -The Taliban remains in power -Over $7 billion worth of US weapons and aircrafts are now in Taliban control -Over 6,500 US personal killed; 20,000 "wounded" -Over 250,000 Afghnistans killed countless "wounded" -Afghanistan is now one of, if not the worst humanitarian and human rights crisis zones in the world It's simple. "Let's assume that Israel manages to kill all the 20,000 Hamas ... but still keep the Palestinians under occupation, another form of resistance like this will emerge" - Francesca Albanese, United Nations Special Rapporteur on Palestine

This debate between Robert Wright and Coleman Hughes follows a typical script. Wright starts the discussion talking about Gaza but quickly conflates it with the the Israeli occupation of the West Bank. The situations in Gaza and the West Bank are totally different. While prior to October 7, the relationship between Gaza and Israel was asymmetrical, Israel was not occupying Gaza. Hamas chose to initiate a war against Israel by conducting a terrorist attack against Israeli civilians that would demand a robust military response. Rather than focus on the war in Gaza and its consequences and implications for peaceful coexistence between Gaza and Israel, Wright chooses to shift the debate to Israeli actions in the West Bank. By pointing out alleged misdeeds by Israel in the West Bank Wright attempts to delegitimize the Israeli military response to the Hamas 10/7 attack. I think it’s critical in debating those who are anti Israel not to allow them to conflate the war in Gaza with the West Bank. For instance, the practical allegation of Israeli apartheid is only relevant when applied to the West Bank—and this allegation can be debated by reasonable people. But the justification for the Israeli war in Gaza has nothing to do with apartheid or illegal settlements.
