Serving as the Board President for Nami Pierce County, I feel so incredibly blessed to be able to provide advocacy, education, support and public awareness so that all individuals and families affected by mental illness can build better lives. Our core tenets, represented as three sides of a triangle are as follows: 1. Advocacy: Be the voice that stands up for, and advocates on behalf of, our neighbors in Pierce County by pushing for a much more robust and comprehensive behavioral health system at both the state and local level. 2. Awareness: Elevate the conversations surrounding mental illness by providing a forum to learn and discuss the nuances of behavioral health through empathy-driven awareness. 3. Connection: Foster a stigma-free community support environment that has room at the table for everyone facing the daily realities of mental illness, regardless of background As a nonprofit, the main sources of funding are threefold: grants, endowments, and community fundraising. Grants and endowments are critical sources of sustained funding for NAMI’s daily operations, like support programs and community gatherings. And while generous and impactful, at the end of the day they’re more-or-less an exercise in grant writing. What makes community fundraising so unique is that it captures the ethos of our core tenets, enabling the community to join us in advancing NAMI’s fundamental mission. Donating to a worthy cause is inherently an act of advocacy; it raises awareness with your peers and actively deepens NAMI’s connection with the community. It's the reason we have a passion for community fundraising – it allows us to grow our tent a little more each time. If this is a cause you feel is worthy of your support, consider donating a few bucks to the link below, if you aren’t in a position right now to donate, but still want to participate, come join us in walking the Kirkland marina park! It’ll be a fun party. Free event, kids welcome, bring the dog. https://lnkd.in/ejZtBs94

When you give to Effect Hope, where does your money go? Here are just a few of the practical ways your donation can be used to transform the lives of people affected by NTDs: 📚 Teaching students and community members about NTDs so they can recognize symptoms and get help more quickly. 🤝 Creating peer support groups to improve mental wellbeing for those struggling with NTDs. 📊 Funding research to continue to improve NTD treatment and interventions. 🔍 Screening for NTDs in remote areas so no one is overlooked. 💵 Investing in the small businesses of people impacted by NTDs to help them regain an income after their illness. 🩹 Providing important medical supplies such as gauze and bandages to prevent infection. Your generosity brings tangible change to individuals, families, and communities through these important projects. In 2022, Indiana lost 1136 individuals to suicide — a heartbreaking reality that affects people of all ages, genders, and communities. *Men have died by suicide at a rate 3-4 times higher than women. *Suicide remains the second leading cause of death for Hoosiers aged 10-34, with teenagers being especially vulnerable. *Clark and Floyd Counties follow similar patterns, with rising concerns about youth and male suicide rates (stats by Indiana.gov) Together, we can change these numbers. By providing resources, fostering open conversations, and helping people get the immediate and long-term support they need, we can prevent these tragedies. Our 1136 - Courage to Care fundraising campaign is raising $113,600 to ensure no one in our community feels alone. Every dollar goes directly to providing life-saving support to those in need. Just a one-time donation of $100 — or $10 a month for a year — can make all the difference. With your contribution we can offer hope, healing, and a chance for a brighter tomorrow. Please join us in honoring the 1,136 lives lost and help us save others. Go to https://lnkd.in/eBAg2n_7 for more info and find the best way that works for you to donate (link in bio). The #wealthiest municipalities in two of NJ's largest counties, send local youth in crisis to the #poorest municipalities in the state. I have a problems with this. Forcing youth to leave their #community, school, peers, and self-created support systems hours away in an unknown area makes them afraid to get help. We are in the midst of an #adolescent mental health crisis. Abusive relationships, drug and alcohol use, #suicide, and homelessness are increasing tremendously among our youth. They need safe places to turn. #Safe places for mental care. Opportunities for youth and families to work on preventing further crisis. CLCL Foundation cannot be that without you. Please, #donate today for youth 10 to 19 who are in crisis, runaways, homeless, stepping from inpatient care, and more. https://lnkd.in/g3jXfQJp ##BeTheChange #ChooseLove ##CelebrateLife #HelpOurYouth #Help #Donate #Volunteer

As we approach the end of our fiscal year, we find ourselves facing a critical challenge. Be Strong Families has a $15,000 funding gap we urgently need to fill by June 30, 2024. Did you know in 2023, the US Surgeon General declared an epidemic on loneliness? Claiming our communities are starved of social connection and community, warning us of the profound threat it holds on our health, including about a 50% increased risk of dementia and other serious medical conditions. Finding community is no longer a suggestion—it is necessary! This is where Be Strong Families steps in. We're dedicated to combating social isolation in every thread of who we are and what we do. That's why our mission is Reweaving the Fabric of Society: One Conversation at a Time. From fostering meaningful conversations, creating community, providing opportunities, and letting that model grow and thrive throughout the world. How do we do this? Through our Cafés, our youth leadership programs, our products, our trainings and webinars on topics like avoiding burnout, impacting addiction with family training and empowerment, how parents and teachers can combat racism in children, and so much more! We need your help to expand and develop our reach into areas where our impact is needed most. Every donation, purchase, and share of this email brings us closer to bridging this funding gap and making a real difference in the lives of our community.
