In a significant shift within Australia's micromobility sector, Lime is set to re-enter the Brisbane market as one of the two primary operators of shared electric scooters and bicycles. This development occurs as Lime takes over from Neuron Mobility, which has served Brisbane since August 2019. Lime, having initially launched in Brisbane in 2019 before being succeeded by Beam Mobility in 2021, will now operate alongside Beam, which retains the second license. Starting in July, Lime plans to introduce 1,700 state-of-the-art Gen 4 scooters and 400 bicycles, enhancing Brisbane's transport options. Just happened to see a video about Starya Mobility through a reel posted by gen.E (checkout comments) It’s a part of their sustainable stories and completely justified I would say Starya transforms 8+ year old scooters with less resale value into a brand new EV They have a patented EV conversion kit with all the approvals From getting rid of the old unwanted parts to a final transformed EV, it takes 10 days! Their pricing also seems to be reasonable, 55-85k… for a new life spanning few years, I think it’s a steal deal Of course, retaining the old one, maintenance, and petrol would definitely cost more… One of the best sustainability related innovations I’ve seen of late I’d say What do you think? CIE members, Fluctuo, a data specialist company focused on shared-mobility services (bikes, scooters, mopeds, cars) recently published its annual review. Notably, the report highlights a remarkable 54% increase in the usage of dockless bikes across Europe in 2023! 🚴♀️ 📈 Fluctuo's CEO, Julien Chamussy, attributes this growth to cities' preference for shared bicycle schemes, emphasizing their ease of adoption. This preference is due to cities already being used to bicycles and having infrastructure designed for them, such as designated parking zones and bike lanes. The role and responsibility of an EV manufacturer is multi-faceted and different entities choose different paths. At LegatusEV Malaysia we're glad we spent time and effort to truly look at the #impact of what we can do whilst wearing the role of a licensed EV manufacturer in #Malaysia We searched high and low, and if none was available, it's best to come up with our own version of things and in our current case, how to convert the millions of motorcyclists into adopters of low carbon mobility. Tackling the core issues like range anxiety, cost and knowing what we know about the riding habits, expectations, geographical and economic limitations, it took us a few years to get to this point. As mentioned, it's worth it because we took the trouble to understand the market and build our solutions to cater to real world expectations. 2024 might be a good year for us and those who are like-minded as we reach out to serious legit partners in this road towards sustainability. If you've ever been to Taiwan, you might have seen these cute lil' scooters zipping about. Emphasis on seen, because compared to noisy two-strokes (which are still allowed, strangely) that you would certainly have smelt and heard first. That makes not one but two battery-swop motorcycle brands here, after Evotion Labs launch in May. I can't even call it a brand in the traditional sense, because Gogoro makes the scooters and the battery-swop system and stations. Here it's all about partnerships. Gogoro isn't making money, it hasn't scaled well outside Taiwan, and has recently faced some corporate turmoil with founder Horace Luke shown the door. As Bruce Aitken, Gogoro's CFO puts it, C&C are in a lot of places (in Asia). But with C&C as a partner, SP Mobility running the charging side, and Shell the landlord giving wider coverage, this might be an interesting success story for Gogoro to pioneer in the region. On the other hand *cue doomy music* : Petrol subsidies in Asean. Still, I know which type of bike I'd rather smell.
