Coffee ☕️ + chocolate 🍫 does a better combo even exist? That theory was tested as we had our monthly anchor day at AIG’s Copenhagen office with a visit from Øens Kaffe. AIG colleagues were treated to sample their assorted Christmas chocolates and a special AIG discount on their amazing coffee. The anchor day is also one of those days where there is a real buzz 🐝 at the office. I think many of us try to cut down on our busy meeting calendars and use the chance to connect with colleagues. For me, it is a good reminder of why I enjoy coming to the office. Yes, hybrid work and flexibility are here to stay (and thank goodness for that 😉), but there is something about togetherness and cohesion, a 𝘫𝘦 𝘯𝘦 𝘴𝘢𝘪𝘴 𝘲𝘶𝘰𝘪, that happens when you have people in the same place working on common goals. Sometimes, it’s about spontaneous collaboration. Other times, it’s just about laughter or listening to a Christmas jingle with colleagues. Whichever working constellation you have, cohesion is something we all must work at, perhaps even more so in a hybrid setup. Sometimes, it’s about the small things. As I sign off for the week, I reflect on my amazing collaborative experience at the GBTA_ New Jersey chapter event that took place at the beautiful The Kenilworth Hotel New Jersey yesterday. hubli labs was designed to uncover the pain-points, discover solutions & explore innovations to keep meetings moving forward. Some really cool ideas generated will allow the continuation of a robust innovation roadmap. Then I moderated peer to peer round tables with vertical-centric topics, we challenged the buyers & then dove into topics that are trending. Thank you to the GBTA_ New Jersey Board & Committee for this engaging collaboration & idea generation to keep travel and meetings pave the path forward. It all begins with challenging the status quo & being curious. Gone are the days when we got away with saying "This is what it is" and settle. Let's learn from our peers, lets share best practices, let build connections. Lets find a way to optimize technology to grow efficiencies. Let's find a way to follow through on a 2-way communication between buyers & suppliers. Let's create strategic partnerships where the outcome is MUTUALLY beneficial. Lets automate to save time. I missed 6 weeks straight of Sunday Summits....... BUT I'M BACK! I must say, there wasn't a weekend that went by that I didn't feel incredibly guilty for not climbing a mountain. That's the power of identity and accountability I guess. It's not like the last 6 weeks weren't busy. 💪 At HR Tech, ZayZoon stole the show with some incredible swag and great personality. I was also asked by more than a few people what mountain I'm climbing next. 🇨🇦 During the C100 event in San Francisco, my fellow Canadians let me know how much they enjoy my Sunday Hike reflections. 🍕 I headed to Houston to hangout with the AllianceHCM team and of course, hiking came up. 👨🔬 In New York, Darcy Tuer and I presented the product we invented 10 years ago, Embedded EWA, to an audience at Finovate. And you guessed it, "Where's the next hike?!" was a question I got.. a lot. 💍 Even in Italy, where I got engaged last month, Val and I had dinner with an old friend that happened to be there for travels as well and he said, "man! how's Jared doing? you guys do the most incredible hikes together." (oops, did I just bury the lead with this one?? 😏 👀 ) 2 things stand out to me on the power of identity and accountability. First, James Clear famously talks about identity in habit building. He says, the key to building lasting habits is focusing on creating a new identity first. Your current behaviors are simply a reflection of your current identity. And on accountability.. One study found that you have a 65% chance of completing a goal if you tell someone else you're committing to doing it. And if you have specific check-ins with a partner, your chance of success increases to 95% 🚀 So what does this all mean? Set goals, tell people about your goals, and act like the type of person that embodies the aspirations of your goal.
