Baijiu anyone? I don't think lots of westerners know anything about the Chinese spirit called Baijiu. Maybe some of you doing business have experienced the (painful?) Chinese Liquor tastings during dinner... I sincerely hope you were spared from too many Kanpei's. TheEconomist Newspaper Limited spent an article on the BIG business side of Baijiu. To me, it was mindblowing to read the market valuations of these companies, something we in the Western world never got our eyes on - let alone that we know these companies. First Russian Kamchatka crab shipment delivered directly to Sanya on November 25 The cargo arrived on an Aeroflot flight from Moscow HAIKOU, November 29/ The first shipment of live Kamchatka crabs from Russia was delivered directly to the city of Sanya located in Hainan Province (China's south) on November 25, Sanya Daily reported. The cargo arrived on an Aeroflot flight from Moscow. In total, the importing company, Sanya Huannong Group, purchased 3 tons of live king crabs. It is reported that this is the first batch of crabs to be delivered directly to Sanya from overseas. It is also the first time a local state-owned company has traded imported seafood, the newspaper said. Previously, the supply channels for Kamchatka crab to Sanya were fragmented. Local suppliers had to buy them through various outlets in other regions of China, mainly through Hongchun, Jilin, Weihai, Shandong, Shanghai and Guangzhou. This ultimately affected the price which made the product inaccessible to a large portion of the customers. According to a spokesperson for the importing company, this shipment was made directly from the manufacturer with only a few intermediaries, thus reducing the price for the end consumer. The company pointed out that this not only cuts down on transportation time and provides flexibility in the sourcing mechanism, but also lowers the cost of the delivered products. The crabs are sent directly to Sanya Huannong Group's seafood collection and distribution center for cultivation and gradual sale to the market. This 3,000 square meter center is the largest seafood collection and distribution facility in Hainan Province. The center is equipped with state-of-the-art facilities for fresh seafood cultivation, cold storage and product processing. #business #finance #financialservices

In a significant achievement for South Korean small businesses, Bumil Industrial's Hauscook cooker, also dubbed the 'Hangang ramyun cooker', has secured an impressive $8 million in exports during the 2024 Korean Business Expo held in Vienna, Austria. The instant ramen cooker, known for its performance and stability, commands a remarkable 95% share of the domestic market. On October 29, Bumil Industrial secured a $5 million export contract with U.S. beauty and food distributor Beauty Master for their multi-functional "Hauscook cooker" device. Park Hyung-kwon, the CEO of Beauty Master, who runs 12 large supermarkets in the southeastern U.S., expressed his enthusiasm for the product's potential, noting that he discovered it unexpectedly at an exhibition and believes it will be successful in the U.S. market. As the popularity of K-food, especially instant ramyun, continues to grow, the Beauty Master intends to improve product visibility by strategically placing items at gas stations with rest areas. Park expressed confidence, stating that the distribution plans have already been finalized. In addition to the U.S. deal, Bumil secured contracts worth $3 million with a Bulgarian buyer and $1 million with a Chinese buyer, showcasing the global appeal of K-food. Shin Young-seok, CEO of Bumil, expressed optimism about upcoming contracts, attributing their success to World OKTA’s (Overseas Korean Traders Associations) extensive global network. As the Korean Wave continues to influence food trends worldwide, both executives foresee a growing demand for versatile cooking products that cater to a diverse range of culinary preferences.
