The Challenge of Doing Nothing Even when I’m off sick, I find it nearly impossible to sit still. My mind is always racing, planning, or working on something. Taking time to do nothing feels like an impossible task—but maybe that’s exactly why I need it. I recently came across a TED Talk that challenges us to take just 10 minutes to truly stop. No phone, no distractions—just 10 minutes of stillness. It’s a simple concept but incredibly powerful. If you’re like me and struggle to slow down, this might be the reset we all need. #Mindfulness #MentalHealth #Stillness #SelfCare #TEDTalks Watch the TED Talk here!

I've often posted about about "getting present in the moment" as a way of affecting your energy and performance. This a great explanation. It's not about ignoring or controlling your thoughts and emotions, but a way of getting a different, detached perspective of them which allows you to respond to them. It's worth the 3 minutes it takes to watch. #presentinthemoment #present #letgo #leadership

Have you ever given your brain a true rest? I hadn’t—at least, not until my sister-in-law Brenda, a mindfulness master, who introduced me to the transformative world of silent retreats incorporating mindfulness. I didn’t realize how tired my brain was until I stopped, took a breath, and embraced the quiet. At first, the stillness was unsettling, but soon it became a gift. With time, the chatter in my mind calmed, and I found space to reflect and recharge. The result? A clearer mind, renewed energy, and a deeper capacity for focus and creativity. I became more effective—not by doing more, but by learning to pause. Now, it is a daily exercise as well as quarterly, annual retreats for my self care. This TED video resonated deeply with me, reminding me how essential it is to step away from the noise of daily life. Imagine what could happen if we all prioritized mental rest. How do you create space for your brain to recover? #Mindfulness #SilentRetreat #Productivity #Wellbeing Brenda Lindsay, CPC, PRP "Unlock Potential"

Taking time to do nothing might seem counterproductive, but it's essential for maintaining mental clarity and focus. A recent article from TED Conferences emphasizes the benefits of dedicating just 10 minutes a day to mindfulness or simply relaxing your mind. This practice can refresh your cognitive abilities and enhance your concentration throughout the day. In our fast-paced world, carving out time for stillness is not just beneficial; it's necessary for personal and professional growth. I encourage everyone to find those moments and reap the rewards of a clearer, more engaged mind. #Mindfulness #MentalHealth #Productivity #CognitiveScience #WorkLifeBalance
