As Juneteenth gains recognition as a federal holiday, many are discovering its profound significance. For those unfamiliar, Juneteenth, celebrated on June 19th, marks the day in 1865 when Union General Gordon Granger arrived in Galveston, Texas, announcing the end of slavery—a full two years after the Emancipation Proclamation was signed. This historic day symbolizes freedom and the rich tapestry of African American culture. If you're wondering how to honor Juneteenth, here are some impactful ways to celebrate: -Sunrise Walk/Run: Begin the day with reflection by joining a sunrise walk or run, contemplating the long journey towards freedom and equality. -Community Meals: Participate in or host a meal featuring traditional African American cuisine. It's a great way to connect and share stories. -Support Black-Owned Businesses: Boost economic empowerment by shopping at Black-owned establishments. -Educational Events: Dive into African American history through lectures, documentaries, and discussions about Juneteenth and social justice. -Visit Historical Sites: Explore museums and cultural centers with special Juneteenth exhibits to deepen your understanding. -Volunteer: Give back by supporting community organizations working towards equality and justice. -Cultural Festivals: Celebrate with music, art, and dance at festivals showcasing African American heritage. -Reflection: Take time for personal meditation, honoring the struggles and victories in the quest for freedom. -Family Activities: Engage your family in educational and creative activities focused on African American culture. -Virtual Events: Participate in online concerts, seminars, or performances if you prefer celebrating from home. Juneteenth is a day for remembrance, celebration, and community. However you choose to observe, it's an opportunity to honor the past and envision a future of justice and equality. Enjoy the holiday and see you next week! #Juneteenth #CelebrateFreedom #SupportBlackBusiness #Community #Equality

Happy Pride 🏳️⚧️🏳️🌈 Give more opportunities to queer people in cinema and television. While we are seeing an increase number of characters and stories in the entertainment industry, there are still very few queer creators who are given the voice to share their stories. This is especially true for trans and nonbinary filmmakers. Queer-lead stories allow for audiences to better understand and relate to tbe LGBTQIA+ community—which leads to greater acceptance. This is crucial, especially in the state of this country where many states are passing/trying to pass laws to do nothing but silence us. Instead of pouring more money into sequels, reboots, and franchise stories, invest in original queer stories. I have been very fortunate within this industry. I am very grateful to have been giving opportunities to work in entertainment. I recognize my privileges and I am working as hard as I can to help amblify my community—especially BIPOC and disabled creators. Times are changing and the world is evolving, however there is so much work that needs to be done. Investors and Executives need to aid in the diversity of this industry. Please watch queer led films and television shows. Please invest in queer creators. Please help change the state of this industry—as it will help change the state of this world. 🏳️⚧️🏳️🌈

Allyship starts with a belief in equality. But that's just the beginning. It means leaning into acceptance of lived experiences. Actively fighting against oppression. Truly understanding your own privilege and using it to stand with and for others so that we all benefit from the steps toward equality. There's always been purposeful effort by Mediavine team members to make sure we can all show up exactly as who we are and be accepted wholly. It's my very favorite thing about the place we have built. #pride #socialimpact #equity #equality
At Mediavine, we believe the future is inclusive. Our commitment to belonging is woven throughout every pillar of our organization, from Social Impact to Publisher Support. Today we’re highlighting two initiatives through which we’re supporting the LGBTQIA+ community: Shine is our corporate community outreach pillar dedicated to developing ways for both our publisher partners and our employees to give back to the communities and organizations we — and they — support, online and off. Through Uplift, we’re delivering equity in ad spend to thousands of diverse publishers, enabling advertisers to support these creators and reach their audiences at scale. Join us in building and celebrating a world where everyone belongs. Happy Pride! 🏳️🌈

LGBTQIA+ Pride Month is in just a few weeks and please, for the love of god, if you have anything to do with your company's or organization's or personal brand and are going to "rainbow-up" your logo or create a bunch of Pride-centered promos and messaging? Don't even consider it without also crafting a clear, clean, public message explaining *why* aligning or promoting Pride is important to your business, brand, mission, vision, and work. It doesn't have to be complex, but it has to be real. Tell us your history, tell us your perspective, tell us about your advocacy and it's purpose. Don't just slap a rainbow behind your logo for a month. We can tell. And we're over it. This isn't like getting dressed up for Halloween. This is a month dedicated to honor the LGBTQIA+ community and culture, commemorating the struggles we have endured over time, and celebrating our collective and individual contributions, talents, diversity and existence makes our everyday lives so important, bright, and unique. Be part of the conversations, not just part of the window-dressing. There is still time to plan and deliver on purpose next month.

As we celebrate #PrideMonth, it's essential to remember that being an ally doesn't end when June does. True allyship means standing with the LGBTQIA+ community year-round, advocating for equality, and fostering inclusive environments where everyone feels valued and respected. Here are a few ways to practice allyship all year long: +Listen and Learn: Hear the stories and experiences of LGBTQIA+ individuals. Understanding their perspectives can help us become better allies. +Speak Up: Challenge discriminatory remarks or actions, whether in the workplace or elsewhere. Silence can be interpreted as acceptance. +Support LGBTQIA+ Organizations: Volunteer your time or donate to causes that advocate for LGBTQIA+ rights and well-being. +Create Inclusive Spaces: Whether at work, home, or in social settings, strive to create environments where everyone feels safe and included. Let's make allyship more than just a moment—let's make it a movement! #Allyship #Pride2024 #EqualityForAll #InclusionMatters #LGBTQ #LGBT #LGBTQIA2+
We ❤️🧡💛💚💙💜🖤🤎🤍 our Allies! Here are just a few ways to support the LGBTQIA2+ community, not just during Pride Month, but all year long 🏳️🌈

With many companies scaling back their DEI programming and efforts I can’t help but wonder what the impact would be on my world if the entertainment industry did the same. Didn’t embrace or recognize tours from Latin, Black, or Female Artists. The results, from the 2023 US touring season: 🎙️ A decrease in overall revenue by $1 billion if we excluded Latin artists. #BadBunny alone brought an estimated $400 million. 👊🏿 A decrease in $550 million if we excluded Black male artists. #Drake started from the bottom and now we’re here, with that here being $100 million in contributions. 👸 A decrease in $1.5 billion if we excluded just these six female artists: #TaylorSwift, #Beyoncé, #SZA, #Shakira, #KarolG and #DojaCat Not that revenue is all that matters, but if you feel that recognizing and supporting diverse groups of individuals won’t ultimately result in an increase in your company’s bottom line, let alone a positive moral ethos, I invite you to DM me the reasoning behind it. If you’re looking to join a company who is keeping their DEI efforts in place (and some being incredibly vocal about doing so (E.L.F. BEAUTY I love you)) please have a look into the following companies: ❤️ E.L.F. BEAUTY 🧡 Cisco 💛 J.Crew 💚 Costco Wholesale If you’re looking to support a female in sports & entertainment (like me) and diverse artists, I've linked the image to at least one tour happening this year. #Diversity #Equity #Inclusion

Social Justice and Activism in Music: Amplifying Voices for Change Throughout history, music has been a powerful tool for advocating social justice and creating awareness around important causes. From civil rights anthems to modern-day protest songs, artists continue to use their platforms to address inequality, injustice, and human rights issues. Why Activism in Music Matters: - Raising Awareness: Songs can spark conversations and highlight social issues that need attention. - Inspiring Action: Music has the power to mobilize people and drive change, becoming a voice for movements . - Creating Emotional Connection: Music connects deeply with emotions, making social issues more relatable and understandable. In today’s world, artists like Beyoncé, Kendrick Lamar, and H.E.R. are using their music to speak on issues of racial inequality, gender justice, and more. How is your music contributing to social justice movements? #MusicForChange #SocialJustice #ActivismInMusic #VoiceForTheVoiceless #MusicWithPurpose
