Are you ready for the last one? 🔎 📖 #Lesson_5: European Transnational Regions (#ETRs) 🌍 🔸BBioNets is developing a 2-level multi-actor framework with respect to #forest and #agriculture Bio-Based Technologies (#BBTs):  • #Regional level: creation & operation of #FANs (rewind to #Lesson_2 for details🔙)  • #Cross-regional level: interaction amongst FANs, each one acting as a sub-network of European Transnational Regions (ETRs). 🤝 The term “transnational regions” refers to the Interreg VI co-operation programmes on large scale territories in Europe and beyond. The EU CAP Network Focus Group on Competitive and Resilient Mountain Areas has released its final report, highlighting innovative approaches in #agriculture, #forestry, and the #bioeconomy to address the challenges and opportunities in these regions. Key findings include: ❌ Main challenges: Unfavorable production conditions, lack of access to markets, #depopulation, and #ClimateChange. ✅ Opportunities: Growing niche markets for local products, sustainable #tourism, and the development of unique mountain goods. 🔅 #Innovation needs: Social innovation, product marketing, collaboration, and strategies to foster long-term resilience. Sharing knowledge about #agroforestry systems in the #Mediterranean! The Department of Agriculture, Food and Environment (Di3A) of the University of Catania hosted the webinar "New resilient agroecosystems in the #Mediterranean environment" on 5 June. The seminar covered a range of topics including a general introduction to #agroforestry systems, an overview of the Transition project, case studies from Italy, Spain and Algeria, the role of herbaceous crops in agroforestry systems and examples of modelling applied to these systems.
