🌍 Exciting Update: Our Participation at the LCA Food 2024 Conference! 🌱 We were thrilled to participate in the LCA Food 2024 Conference, a leading forum on sustainable food systems. This biennial event, pioneering discussions since the mid-90s, gathered hundreds of environmental professionals from diverse sectors, including academia, private industry, and public bodies. For those passionate about measuring and improving the sustainability of food systems, this was the event to attend! Attendees connected with like-minded professionals, expanded their networks, and immersed themselves in the vibrant culture of Barcelona. 🏆 PIC Contributions: We were proud to showcase the work of our team at the conference: 👉Dr. Lindsay Case's Oral Communication: Creating Novel Value in the Pork Chain Through LCA-Quantified Carbon Reductions Enabled by Genetic Innovation. Dr. Case also shared our work with Dr. Greg Thoma and his recent Lifecycle Assessment: Environmental Sustainability Evaluation of PIC Genetics vs. Industry Average. Both presentations highlighted how PIC established a replicable global pathway for pork producers and food companies. By leveraging our genetic innovations, we aimed to deliver both a premium meat product and a carbon asset. The 38th #EFFoST International Conference 2024 in Bruges served as a global stage for innovation and collaboration in food science. Among a full 2.5 day programme with over 180 parallel sessions, there was a special session co-organized by the FoodDataQuest EU project and its sister initiative, Data4Food2030, under the theme “Data as an Enabler of Sustainable Food Systems.” The session highlighted FoodDataQuest’ s dedication to using data and digital innovation to build smarter, more sustainable food systems.
