This is big. It is incredible to hear the United States Global Water Coordinator emphasizing the role of data in accelerating WASH decisions. This isn't a technical staff-level discussion. This is the most senior official in the US Government for international WASH talking about the need to use data to improve decisions. This is what high level commitment to #WASHdata looks like, and it paves the way for transformational programs that leverage data to accelerate efficiency, advance equity, and strengthen resilience.
Thank you to our hosts in Sweden for an engaging and very successful #StockholmWorldWaterWeek! I was energized by the many discussions and sessions with counterparts from the UK, Netherlands, The World Bank, UNICEF, International Water Management Institute (IWMI), Veolia, and many more. Through our flagship Action Research Initiative, the US is generating new evidence that will drive improvements in the effectiveness of water, sanitation and hygiene and water resources management programming. It is inspiring to see how REAL-Water’s work is helping improve water provider performance and water safety for rural water systems in Kenya and Ghana. As a result of USAID investments, 69 rural water systems have improved water quality through continuous water monitoring and testing. Watch below for my key takeaways from the week!

Answers to some of our toughest questions sit outside the water and sanitation sector - talking to Ministry of Local Government, Ministry of Public Services, Office of the Prime Minister and National Planning Authority.
