Why we all need a European Industrial Deal Our CEO, ArcelorMittal Europe stood with 72 other industry leaders in #Antwerp (Belgium) to call for a European Industrial Deal that will ensure Europe remains competitive, resilient, and sustainable in the face of uncertain economic conditions. In the presence of European Commission President Ursula Von der Leyen, and Belgium’s Prime Minister Alexander De Croo, we signed the ‘Antwerp Declaration’ As ArcelorMittal Europe we fully support a European Industrial Deal to complement the EU #GreenDeal. #ArcelorMittal Europe has committed to cutting our carbon emissions by 35-percent by 2030, and to achieve zero-carbon steelmaking by 2050.

📣 SSAB and Wibe Group in partnership on fossil-free steel Wibe Group and SSAB have reached an agreement on deliveries of fossil-free steel to be used in Wibe Group’s cable management systems, such as cable ladders and cable trays. The move fits seamlessly with both companies’ ambition to reduce carbon emissions and is a natural step in their long-standing collaboration. As part of the commitment, Wibe Group will start to receive small batches of steel produced without carbon emissions in 2026, with volumes scaling-up annually as SSAB’s fossil-free production capacity increases. By using the fossil-free steel material, Wibe Group will be able to reduce the carbon emission footprint by up to 90% on the respective products. Read the full story: https://lnkd.in/eE9QBcEi

AMBITIOUS GROWTH PLANS // “This investment further cements our history of over 110 years in Teesside with a capex spend that will bring about significantly enhanced production capabilities alongside cutting-edge technology.” Middlesbrough-based manufacturer Lionweld Kennedy Group has announced a £1.5 million investment in its site and machinery, including installing the UK’s first shearing machine for steel grating which is expected to increase production capacity of its Safegrid gratings by over 40 per cent. The recent investment further cements the firm’s ongoing commitment to sustainability, with the new multipurpose building also being a carbon neutral building. So successful has the business been in this regard that it has already hit its long-term net zero target for 2040 in three years, being recently recognised at the Make UK Manufacturing Awards as Energy and Sustainability Award for the North East, Yorkshire and Humber.
