Did you know there are 3 types of inspections you should be doing for your rigging gear? Those inspections are: Initial, Frequent, and Periodic. All three are important for safety while using rigging gear. On today’s episode of Safety Saturday, Tim guides us through each of the three types of inspections for rigging gear and their importance for keeping employees safe while using rigging gear. The initial inspection is visual to make sure tags are present and the setup matches. The frequent inspection is hands-on to check for damage and should be conducted prior to each use. The periodic inspection is extensive and should be conducted every 12 months. Additionally, chain slings, which are one of the most common pieces of rigging equipment, require extra attention to detail when being inspected. Until next week, from everyone at W. L. French, stay safe out there! #ConstructionSafety #Rigging #ChainSlings #StayPrepared #SafetySaturday #SafebyChoice #wlfrench #WEMOVEBOSTON

When slings look like this. The only use for them is to be cut into short sections to be used as chaffing gear. #Repurpose #Rigging #SoftSlings #EquipmentManagement
Sling quality. "We have gear" doesn't necessarily mean the gear is useful. Knowing when gear is and is not suitable for the job is critical for the safety of the cargo and the personnel participating in the operation. Rigging inspections are a requirement and it is examples like this that substantiate the 5 minutes it takes to inspect slings. #Rigging #LiftingGear #CargoHandling #ProjectCargo #Breakbulk #SafeWorkingPractice

I had a unique opportunity to undergo a training on the different operations of the mobile harbour crane 🏗️. Where we properly discussed and practiced the different operations like * Traveling of the crane * Slewing (Rotating the crane) * Adjusting the boom angle * Hoisting and lowering the crane * Outrigger control * Mode switching * Safety features #MHC #TICT #Safetyfirst

Conditions that may be the root cause; 1- Heating due to mechanical friction and keeping flammable materials in the cabin or close to areas where heating may occur. 2- Use of electrical appliances in the cabin (kettle, coffee machine, phone chargers, use of heaters for winter months, etc.) 3- Technical malfunction (electrical malfunction) or improper process (absence of leakage current relays in the panels / not using cables with a diameter that can handle the electrical load used, etc.) 4- The operator cannot smoke etc. in the cabin. lighter etc. in the cabin to use the product or to use the relevant products. Possession of flammable (due to hot weather) and explosive (lighter, etc.) equipment There are many factors such as. Separate measures should be considered for each of these factors. Precautions that can be taken; 1- Safety and maintenance instructions should be created in line with the manufacturer's declaration and easily flammable materials in the environment should be replaced with non-flammable materials by substitution method. Mechanical parts that may cause friction should be mounted and lubricated to minimize friction. 2- Convectional heaters with appropriate safety equipment (thermite, switch, etc.) should be used, power banks should be provided and debited to the operators (the use of chargers should be prohibited), the needs of the operators such as hot and cold drinks should be met from outside (kettles, refrigerators, etc. should be prohibited). 3- Periodic technical inspection and maintenance should be carried out, and no work should be carried out until the detected nonconformities are eliminated. 4- Cigarettes etc. Operators who do not use the product should be preferred in recruitment. The use of the relevant product in the cabin should be prohibited.
