Are you working with current information about your industry? How about your market? When was the last time you looked at the trends in your business? When was the last time you did a really good, honest, objective analysis of your marketplace to see what has shifted ... or are you still delivering the same old, same old, been-there-done-that-bought the T-shirt and now it's in Value Village kind of stuff? Because, as my mother would say, if you've been in business for more than 6 months, the world has turned. Leaders continuously watch for trends - maybe the products are the same, but the delivery channels are different, for example, when I first started coaching everything was live and in person... now there are multiple ways to get my knowledge out there and "live and in person" is rapidly sliding to the second-to-last choice. People are more interested in self-paced learning products and online courses. If you're selling products - are you losing market share to people who come to your store, check you out, surf the net, and make a buying decision based on whether it's cheaper to buy online - and how do you work around that? What are some of the innovative "fixes" that your competition has put in place that you may have missed? How about outsourcing? Now that our local world has gone global and we can buy practically anything from anywhere in the world how do you compete? 1. Do you have a product for every service 2. Do you have a service for every product 3. Do you build in obsolescence so you can get your old customers/clients to buy new products as you evolve? 4.Are you stuck in a "one of" economy when the world has gone to multiple channel/multiple product stream model? 5.When was the last time you got on top of the trends instead of just running behind the cart?
