Who really gets the biggest slice of your food budget? Producing high-quality, organic food that’s accessible to consumers is never as simple as just the ingredients that make up the products. Each step in the journey from field to fridge adds costs, often in unexpected places. Take oat flakes, for example. Of a 2.69€ box: ➡️ Seed costs make up only about 1.5% ➡️ Production in the fields accounts for 15% ➡️ Storage takes roughly 1%, processing adds 20%, and packaging is another 10% ➡️ Where does the rest go? Retail margins account for 32%, and distribution adds 20%. And that’s for a fairly simple product. With our organic meal in a bottle, Njamito, the price structure is a bit different, but in both cases, ingredients account for about 20% of the price. In contrast, non-organic foods often rely on cheaper, synthetic ingredients, which can bring actual ingredient costs down to just 10% of the final price. 💬 Could enhanced transparency of ingredients as well as food pricing redefine consumer behaviour? Let’s discuss. #FoodIndustry #OrganicFarming #SupplyChainManagement #SustainableFarming #CostOptimization #AgroInnovation #Traceability #transparency

Organic caramel color is transforming food as we know it. Enhancing appearance, enriching flavors, and meeting the growing demand for natural ingredients. Want to know why it’s so important? Let’s take a closer look at the key reasons behind its growing popularity. 1. Why is organic caramel color gaining popularity in food products? More consumers are demanding natural ingredients over artificial ones. Organic caramel color, made from heated organic sugar, provides a healthier, cleaner alternative. It helps manufacturers meet these expectations by creating products that are visually appealing while supporting trends for natural and sustainable food choices. 2. How does organic caramel color improve food and drinks? It enhances the look and taste of products. For example, in deli meats, it creates a roasted appearance, and in soft drinks like cola, it gives the dark brown hue people recognize. Its natural caramel flavor also improves taste, making cookies, chocolates, and beverages richer and more enjoyable. 3. Why is organic caramel color important for companies and the planet? Using organic caramel color aligns with the growing clean-label movement. It appeals to health-conscious consumers and reduces reliance on synthetic chemicals, promoting trust and sustainability. By choosing natural ingredients, companies show care for their customers and the environment, gaining a competitive edge. #NaturalFoodColoring #FoodInnovation #CaramelColor #NaturalFlavors

As a global leader of better-for-you brands, innovation is at the heart of what we do. Our Garden of Eatin' brand is a testament to this focus. In 1971, the brand introduced consumers to the first blue corn tortilla chip – made from organic blue corn – and ultimately created its signature product. Earlier this year, to reinforce our commitment to sustainability, the brand transitioned to a fully organic product, enhancing our recipe with USDA-certified organic oil and ensuring every bite of our signature blue chips is not only tasty but also #BetterForYou. Our Garden of Eatin’ tortilla chips are also non-GMO Project Verified, certified gluten free and made in organic expeller pressed oil. They do not contain hydrogenated oil, artificial flavors or artificial preservatives. These new innovations – Organic Blue Chips with Sea Salt, Organic Blue Chips No Salt Added, Organic Yellow Chips with Sea Salt, and Organic Red Hot Blues, which was also reformulated to make them hotter even longer, and securing them as the No. 1 spicy, better-for-you tortilla chip – launched initially at Whole Foods Markets. They’re now also available on Amazon with more retailers coming later this fiscal year. Our brand’s dedication to using great ingredients reflects our mission to #InspireHealthierLiving #OneHainTeam
