A new survey by Ciphr reveals that over 7.3 million UK employees (26%) are actively seeking new job opportunities in 2024, largely due to the cost-of-living crisis. Younger workers (18-34) are particularly affected, with 40% on the job hunt. London-based employees and those in sales (37%), business consulting (35%), and hospitality (35%) are among the most eager to switch roles. Financial pressure is a key driver, especially for younger generations—53% of 18-24-year-olds and 34% of 25-34-year-olds are seeking higher-paying positions. In comparison, only 9% of those over 55 are looking for new jobs. Many job seekers are also taking on extra work, with 53% picking up additional hours and 40% exploring side gigs. Job search trends also vary by region, with London (37%) and the South West, Northern Ireland, and Scotland (around 33%) leading the way. In contrast, the East Midlands has the fewest job seekers (12%). Industry breakdown shows that professionals in sales, business consulting, and hospitality are most likely to be seeking new opportunities, while legal professionals (15%) and transport workers (17%) are the least likely to be looking. Why is it SO important to SHOW UP in recruitment? 🌟 EFFECIVE PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT: As an entry-level recruiter, you need all the direct support you can get to set yourself off to the best start to your career. 🌟 ENERGY: Sales-driven roles are all about the energy and sales flare you give off to your clients and candidates. A positive, enthusiastic office environment will help you reflect that in your business and will push you further. 🌟 ACCOUNTABILITY: It's easy to get lost in the business of your day, you need people around you to hold you accountable for what you want to get out of your day! 🌟 WORK/LIFE SEPARATION: Working where you live, sleep and function is not the best for your work/life balance. There is no better feeling than coming back to your home after a productive day at work! 🌟 ROUTINE: Most of us hate to admit it but we all thrive when we have a nice productive routine in place. Keeping your job A series of factors should be taken into considering job hunting, however should sustainable practices not be employ, there you'll be unemployed either your employer dismisses you or your contract not renewed. 1. As an employee remember you're employed to solve a problem. However, for you to solve that problem, you're bind by contractual terms. This is the primary reason for every vaccancy advertising for there's a need. Often, but to say the least most employers don't respect the contractual term. It's either you resigned immediately but don't allow your employer to dismiss you. 2. Understand the system put in place for that company/setting you're working in. Most often, employees wants to change the work setting forgetting to note their contract limites them. Align to the system in place and work closely with line management. Don't be a critic, no employer will keep you in his enterprise, most employers love to work with employees who identifies a problem and react positively. This could be in the form of suggestions, proposal, reports and if your reaction isn't welcome just keep calm 3. Be very flexible, proactive. Flexibility is the quality of bending easily without breaking or to easily modify. Most employees aren't flexible, they're regid in reasoning and implementation of task or ideas. Most employees are evaluated on. 4. Study more than ever. Many employees can't remember the last time they studied after they contract signed. This is very detrimental especially when you're in the private sector. Anything can happen at anytime. Studies can give you new ways to solve a problem, gives you wider scope and open more opportunities you never knew. This is a personal commitment, trust me you'll work stresslessly with your employer always making you as a reference. 5. Most managers what they do now is to test the loyalty and patients of their employer. Majority of employees are either kick off their office or remain in that same position for decades. I can tell you patients and loyalty is a vertue no employer will under look. 6. Update your file system with certifications, evaluations. Some take this for granted. Of course your employer will to an extend, not ask questions about this. However, you may find yourself not progressing and if care is not taken, you're out of office. Ask questions to you employer what you need to improve, even if your employer is praising you verbally, appreciate him/her for that and ask for a written documents especially in a company where there's high rotation of staff. Also ask for training to help you solve more complex problems From the above mention, take essential note it ALTITUDE. it can take you to the highest level in your career as well as send you out of the job market. If you're one of those whom, have lost a job or two without no clear clear explanation(s), take a moment before you apportion blames to your company or organization, think of your altitude as a prime concern.

The whole range of building safety roles across Building Control, Warranty, Principal Designer across the UK I recruit at all levels from Trainee to Director level on a permanent and contract basis. ⁠𝟐. 𝐇𝐨𝐰 𝐝𝐢𝐝 𝐲𝐨𝐮 𝐠𝐞𝐭 𝐢𝐧𝐭𝐨 𝐫𝐞𝐜𝐫𝐮𝐢𝐭𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭? Graduated in 2008 and decided that finding people jobs when jobs were being axed would be a doddle. Now jobs are plentiful but skilled building control professional are not. 𝟑. 𝐖𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐢𝐬 𝐲𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐟𝐚𝐯𝐨𝐮𝐫𝐢𝐭𝐞 𝐩𝐚𝐫𝐭 𝐨𝐟 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐣𝐨𝐛? Managing to navigate the impossible, whether that’s finding someone a position who has a really unique set of circumstances and they’ve given up hope of ticking everything off their shopping list. Or, having a position that has been impossible to fill for a long time. There is always a solution to these things. You just have to work harder to do them. It tests your tenacity at times. ⁠ 𝟒. 𝐂𝐥𝐚𝐢𝐦 𝐭𝐨 𝐟𝐚𝐦𝐞? Harold Bishop threw a Murray Mint at me during a pantomime at Crewe Lyceum theatre in 1995 𝟓. ⁠𝐖𝐡𝐚𝐭’𝐬 𝐠𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐭 𝐚𝐛𝐨𝐮𝐭 𝐅𝐥𝐮𝐱? We’re a much more grown-up business. Rather than having a heavy sales approach means we aren’t pushed to hit targets that hinder the industry or the service we are providing. Its focussed-on delivery not hitting the calls, meetings or approaches targets that other recruitment businesses. We operate as a commercially successful business because we don’t waste time or make stupid promises. 𝟔. ⁠𝐈𝐧𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐞𝐬𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐟𝐚𝐜𝐭 𝐚𝐛𝐨𝐮𝐭 𝐲𝐨𝐮? I never buy anything new… I spend most weekends in charity shops dragging my niece round for company. There’s no downside – it’s cheaper, sustainable and means your money is (hopefully) going to some good use. Plus, you need to go to nice areas for a good calibre of charity shop. Which usually means we can have tea and cake, too. 𝟕. ⁠𝐖𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐢𝐬 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐟𝐮𝐭𝐮𝐫𝐞 𝐨𝐟 𝐲𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐬𝐞𝐜𝐭𝐨𝐫 / 𝐫𝐞𝐜𝐫𝐮𝐢𝐭𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭? The future of building control is concerning on some levels. We’ve always needed new people in the industry and while there are green shoots of that happening, many have left the industry this year. It’s also an aging workforce with retirement within 10 years for many of the experts in the industry. With these shortages can mean more opportunity though, hence the rise in contract positions, the emergence of the PD role and the chance for many to progress to peer review more junior members of staff. For me, it means working with people a bit differently. Everyone will have more they need to get out of recruiters. On both sides of the equation. 𝟖. ⁠𝐖𝐡𝐨 𝐲𝐨𝐮 𝐛𝐚𝐜𝐤𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐢𝐧 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐄𝐮𝐫𝐨𝐬??
