Dr. Ajit, that's a wonderful sentiment and a powerful call to action! The theme "My Health, My Right" is so important, as it speaks to the fundamental human right of access to quality healthcare and the ability for each person to take charge of their own well-being. When we work together to create a world where everyone can reach their full health potential, we are not only improving individual lives, but also strengthening our communities and building a more equitable society. Good health is the foundation for so many other aspects of life - education, employment, social connection, and overall quality of life. To make this vision a reality, we need to tackle systemic barriers to healthcare access, such as socioeconomic disparities, lack of infrastructure in underserved areas, and biases or discrimination in healthcare delivery. We must also empower people with the knowledge, resources, and support to actively manage their own health and make informed decisions. This requires a multi-pronged approach - investments in public health initiatives, improvements to the healthcare system, education campaigns, and bottom-up community engagement. It's a lofty but incredibly worthwhile goal, and one that will take commitment and collaboration from all sectors of society. I'm inspired by your call to action and I'm excited to work together with you and others to make "My Health, My Right" a living, breathing reality. When we come together around this shared purpose, I truly believe we can create a world where everyone has the opportunity to thrive. Let's get to work!

Did you know that value-based mechanisms have proven to be able to reduce costs for employers by over $2,000 per employee per year? That is over $100B for employers across the country, simply "left on the table". Too many benefit advisors cite they "don't know a better way", but some do and they're exploiting the opportunity to take care of their employers while growing the client books. As anyone in the #employerbenefits knows, new relationships are being forged every day between employers and providers. These partnerships must be built on #valuebased principles, as we can not afford to continue to sponsor volume-based incentives. Employers must use their feet and move their business to models that reward quality, experience, and avoidable cost reduction. Check out the article or DM me - always happy to discuss how to operationalize value-based commercial strategies. Big shout out to Health Evolution for pulling this together and getting so many industry masterminds and trailblazers into one publication - humbled to be included!
As a fellow with Health Evolution, ClearPoint Health CEO Jeb Dunkelberger was invited to contribute to an interesting publication exploring value-based care and provider-insurer contracting. The repetitive use of software providers that are only integrated with BP and MD reinforces the PMS duopoly and continues to exclude innovation in the Australian market. If government funding bodies won’t force change then we may as well formalise the duopoly and make using Best Practice Software or MedicalDirector mandatory. It’s great that the Hunter New England and Central Coast PHN is trying to help local practices. And from what I’ve heard Cubiko is a really clever and useful product. But the constant use of products with limited integrations continues to reinforce the PMS duopoly for GPs. Locally we have an e-referrals solution (SENT by BPAC Clinical Solutions LP) that the PHN commissioned for all referrals to our LHD. But it only works with BP or MD. And no contingencies were made for anyone outside of that system. Now we have the SAVI program to assist general practices to remain viable. And another solution is put forward that only works with BP or MD. Also looking forward to the new funded head to health referral pathways which relies on another e-messaging/referral platform that only works with BP and MD (consultmed ). PHNs have a responsibility to go beyond just talking the talk of an integrated health system. Much like government should be the model litigant I think government funding bodies should also be striving for better solutions than those that only reinforce dominant providers. Why on earth would a local GP provider choose an alternative PMS when they are actively excluded from participating in streamlined referrals to the LHD or from funded business analysis software that competitors in the space are getting for free? And what chance does anyone creating an innovative and change focussed PMS have to break into the market when the dominant providers continue to be elevated above everyone else by government funding bodies. PHNs should be leading the charge and demanding systems that aren’t reliant on a licence from the PMS equivalent of Coles or Woolworths. Instead they should be ensuring and demanding products that offer an alternative access source for practices working outside of the duo. I want to see more model litigant behaviour and less filling of the moats of the behemoths. Stop punishing progressive practices with regressive thinking.
🩺💻 In their commitment to bolster the viability of General Practice, the Hunter New England and Central Coast Primary Health Network (HNECC PHN) is thrilled to announce a new partnership with Cubiko...
