In the Community-Led Collaboration Project, we focused on co-designing with communities to create better support networks for children and youth with disabilities and their families. We believe that inclusive communities are healthier communities, and this is a shared responsibility. In Port Alberni, we were able to gather input from attendees, including families, service providers, and community members, at the annual Port Alberni Association for Community Living (PAACL) Family Fun Fair. At our project table, our graphic facilitator captured participants' thoughts in a large graphic facilitation that was given to the community team at the end of the fair. Pride month may be over, but did you know that today starts the first month of Disability Pride Month? Taking into account accessibility is (in my eyes) the most important thing to consider while working on a design. Having my own unique disabilities that I struggle with day-to-day, I strive to put an emphasis on this in my own work.
