Discover our pilot catchments 🌍 The LocAll4Flood project seeks to develop an Integrated Multi-stakeholder Governance Model, applicable for the management of flash floods in the Mediterranean basin Interreg Euro-MED Programme. But in order to succeed, this model needs to be tested in real places. The Gurri catchment area, in Catalonia, is one of them. The Gurri is a river that crosses the Plain of Vic. Through the urban area of this city, it receives the waters of three tributaries, the Mèder, the Torrent de Sant Jaume and the Torrent de l'Esperança. If the upstreams of these rivers pass through rural areas, their downstream coincide with heavily populated or industrial areas 🏭 which present a high flood risk due to their limited hydraulic capacity. Even though flash floods are unusual in Plain of Vic, their economic and human impact can be strong, at it was the case during the Storm Gloria 🌧️ in 2020. BETA Technological Center, the LocAll4flood lead partner, is engaged in collaborative efforts with local and regional stakeholders to address these issues with a holistic approach (prevention, adaptation, mitigation). #FlashFloods #Climate #RiskManagement #Vic #Catalonia

Great project with great partners. And it's sooo interesting to see it both through partner's and local inhabitant's eyes!
