Did you know that to science, birds are apex species, and by conserving them, we inadvertently conserve a whole host of other species that are just as important as birds but may not have the same affinity with the public? East Africa remains the top birding destination where one can spot over 400 bird species: Let's go #birdingwitholuokos and share an intimate connection with our natural environment. #sustainabiltyatoluokos #oluokossignatureexperiences #GoBetterWithOluokos https://lnkd.in/eSn9V3zj

🐋 Empathy Knows No Bounds Here’s a weekend story that will leave you in awe. Watch until the end to understand the incredible relationship between whales and humans. What we can learn from other species is nothing short of extraordinary. This isn’t just about the emotional intelligence of humpback whales—it’s a powerful reminder of the empathy and connection that transcends species. Their actions challenge us to rethink how we interact with and care for the natural world. What if we approached marine life—and all of nature—with the same empathy they show us? Imagine the possibilities for conservation, coexistence, and understanding. Let’s reflect on this extraordinary bond and discuss how it inspires us to better connect with the world around us. What’s your takeaway? Share your thoughts below! 👇 #WeekendStory #Empathy #Whales #HumanConnection #LearnFromNature #MarineLife #Conservation #Sustainability #WeekendInspiration

Happy #WorldRiversDay! What if I told you these are the same location only a few years in between? From a poor quality soil and silage meadow, to a biodiversity diversity rich mosaic of channels, ponds, shales, gravels, refugia, flora and fauna. Build it and they will come. Or in this case - give the river a little nudge to do its own thing. As ever a collaborative project. Environment Agency, RSPB, Natural England, United Utilities to restore a natural, functional Dynamic River and floodplain system.

Elephants, majestic beings of immense strength and grace, exemplify a harmonious coexistence with their habitat and fellow creatures. In their vast territories, encompassing diverse ecosystems from forests to savannahs, elephants play a crucial role as keystone species. Despite their imposing size, they tread lightly on the land, creating pathways that benefit a myriad of other species, from insects to birds to mammals. As architects of their environment, elephants shape landscapes through their foraging habits, which in turn create habitats for various plant and animal species. They are known as ecosystem engineers, enhancing biodiversity and promoting ecological balance. Moreover, elephants' profound social bonds and familial structures further contribute to the intricate web of life within their habitat. In their presence, a sense of interconnectedness pervades, reminding us of the importance of respecting and preserving the delicate balance of nature. As stewards of the Earth, we can learn much from elephants about living in harmony with our environment and embracing the diversity of life around us. #Elephants #Biodiversity #HarmonyWithNature #EcosystemEngineering #Coexistence Hopefully you enjoy my posts and will follow me on LinkedIn. With an increasing disconnect from our natural world, misconceptions and misinformation about the species we share our landscapes with often dominate our narratives. Understanding is the first step to rebuilding our relationship with the environment. In this video series, created in collaboration with the Rainmatter Foundation, we explore how communities across the country are learning to coexist with elephants, snakes, leopards, and more. In this episode, we examine the complex issue of human-elephant conflict in India. As shrinking habitats push these majestic creatures closer to human populations, conflicts have become more frequent. But there is still hope. Discover how organisations like the Nature Conservation Foundation (NCF), A Rocha India and Wildlife SOS are using innovative, tech-based solutions to reduce these conflicts and foster harmony. To learn more about these efforts, reach out to india@arocha.org and volunteer@wildlifesos.org. In partnership with Rainmatter Foundation

🌐 𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗪𝗼𝗼𝗱 𝗪𝗶𝗱𝗲 𝗪𝗲𝗯 🌳 In the heart of our forests, a hidden network exists — one that doesn't rely on cables or signals but thrives beneath the soil, connecting trees in a complex and fascinating system known as the Wood Wide Web. 🌿 The Wood Wide Web, a term coined by ecologist Suzanne Simard, describes the intricate network of mycorrhizal fungi that links trees together in a symbiotic relationship. This natural internet allows trees to communicate, share resources, and support each other in ways that might surprise many! 🌴 #woodwideweb #NatureNetworks #TreeCommunication #NatureInspires #EnvironmentalAwareness #WoodlandWonders #SustainableEcosystems #EarthConnections #PreserveOurForests #NatureConservation

1wGreat to see this resource with age and stage appropriate text features - I bet it will be really useful! One comment that I would make is that, whilst the page verified design (text locked to outer margins) looks really nice, it's often helpful if texts show sentences starting in the "right" place on the line. This is helpful for accessibility as well as for modelling correct placement.
