So much is changing very quickly with AI, and if we don’t have systems in place to support students from beginning to end, we’ll very quickly fall behind in global markets. We have yet to create a meaningful pipeline for students that harness the use of their phones from early ages of adoption to early adulthood because education has yet to land on an effective method of addressing phones in the classroom, even after the first “smartphone” was released 30 YEARS AGO! If we don’t get about the business of preparing students for a digital workplace and all it entails (including the meaningful use of the phone as a learning device) we are going to lose any kind of meaningful share of global digital markets. 🚨 New Research in Brief: Insights on AI in Australian Higher Ed! 🚨 A new report from Australia sheds some fascinating light on how HigherEd professionals are using AI tools in their work: --71% of the 3,421 university staff across 17 institutions reported using generative AI at work. --216 different AI tools were reported across the board. --1/3 reported that they only used one AI tool, and a 1/4 reported using two AI tools. 4% had used 10+ tools. --88% of AI users are leveraging ChatGPT, while 37% use Microsoft Copilot. --30% of staff still haven’t tapped into AI at work. A key takeaway from this report: University staff are calling for clear policies, robust training, and investments in secure AI tools to help guide this technological shift.
