Our approach goes beyond simply installing water points. We focus on long-term impact by training local Area Mechanics to repair and maintain water points, ensuring access to clean water for years to come. By empowering Malawian communities with the tools and knowledge to keep their water sources running, we’re not just providing water; we’re building resilience, creating jobs, and driving local ownership. 🛠

July is #SmartIrrigationMonth, and it’s a good time to check which areas your sprinklers are watering. Over 50% of water used outside at home is wasted due to overwatering, watering paved areas, and evaporation. If any paved areas are in its range, try relocating or adjusting it so it’s watering only what actually needs water. Do you own or manage access to a lake, dam, river or creek? Rivers, creeks, and lakes continue to be a location with a large number of drowning deaths, accounting for 26% of all drowning deaths in the last 20 years. We want to keep people safe in and around inland waterways, so that everyone can enjoy the water safely. That is why today, Royal Life Saving is launching the Guidelines for Inland Waterway Safety. We’ve completed a £59.3 million project to secure Swindon’s future water supply. Working in partnership with Kier Group, we’ve laid a 13.7km water transfer pipe between Farringdon and Blunsdon. The work began in May 2021, and completed this summer, with the pipe coming into service following careful testing. The pipeline is now serving thousands of residents with high quality drinking water and will also significantly reduce leakage in the local area. Scheduled Water Outage in Eastern St. Thomas this Weekend ST. THOMAS, U.S. VIRGIN ISLANDS – November 7, 2024 – The Virgin Islands Water & Power Authority (“WAPA” or the “Authority”) announces a scheduled water service disruption starting at 11:30 p.m. on Friday, November 8, 2024, affecting areas on the eastern side of St. Thomas. The disruption is due to low water levels in the Donoe Tank, caused by a failed pump motor at the Donoe Pumping Station. Affected Areas: • Smith Bay • Nazareth • Annas Retreat (New Tutu & Tutu Valley) In addition to these areas, other parts of the East End of St. Thomas, including Bovoni, Nadir, and Marienthal, may experience interruptions as water inventory levels continue to fall. Repairs & Estimated Timeline: WAPA crews are actively working to repair the faulty pump motor, and we expect the repairs to be completed by Sunday, November 10, 2024. We anticipate service to be fully restored once the repairs are completed, and water levels return to normal. WAPA encourages residents to support ongoing water conservation efforts during this time. Currently, St. John is not expected to be affected by this disruption. We appreciate the public’s patience and cooperation as we work to resolve this issue and restore normal water service to all customers. ### DOWNLOAD PDF HERE: https://buff.ly/3UDb88k #WAPA #VIWAPA
