“We will build one satellite computer 💻 per day. This is our proof of concept for scaling up to serial volume production”, said Oliver Grassmann, EVP Satellites 🛰 , in his speech at the Space Tech Expo Europe in Bremen today. “The cost of manufacturing a satellite is plummeting,” Oliver pointed out. How to make money in this challenging market? “Our answer is automation, industrialization and standardization. But before all that comes a very basic management technique – applying lean management principles”, said Oliver. “In the end it is all about our people. Our fantastic engineers and colleagues in all areas make the difference.” Oliver leads the Division Satellites of Beyond Gravity, the leading space supplier in Europe, serving both the commercial and the institutional market. ⚡🌐 The next International Telecommunication Union's World Radio Conference in 2027 (WRC-27) could be critical for the Earth Observation segment. The Earth Observation Industry has come together to address a critical issue: protecting current and future use of X-band for Remote Sensing satellites, vital for studying the earth, monitoring its climate, and keeping humans safe and secure. 🌎 📡 This white paper strongly recommends opposing any new identification of X-band (7125-7235 MHz, 7235-7250 MHz, and 8025-8400 MHz bands) for 6G, ensuring that EO missions can continue delivering socioeconomic and environmental benefits without interference or loss of spectrum access. 📜 You can read the full paper below. This effort was a fantastic industry collaboration between Airbus, ICEYE, Axelspace Corporation, KSAT – Kongsberg Satellite Services, ATLAS Space Operations, Inc., EarthDaily Analytics, Fleet Space Technologies, Hisdesat Servicios Estratégicos, Infostellar, Planet, Lunasonde, Spire, Synspective Inc., and Leaf Space 🙌 Drop a comment below if you want to support this cause or are interested in learning more about why it's so important for the EO industry ⤵

2 reasons why this is remarkable for the EO sector: 😴Obvious & Boring: latest developments in EO lead to higher and higher data volume on board of satellites. Space2Ground LaserCom is a suitable technology to rapidly transmit large quantities of bits and bytes down to Earth. ⚡️Not obvious & extremely exciting: S2G LaserCom has exceptionally high requirements for pointing accuracy and stability. This means that satellite platforms that are LaserCom-capable are automatically able to provide the required performance to the highest resolution EO systems (LIDAR, VHR EO, etc.). In this sense, I am particularly excited about this cooperation with ODYSSEUS Space as it enables Reflex Aerospace to serve the EO market in two complementary ways. Get some inspiration here: https://lnkd.in/dvJCrWqV
Reflex Aerospace has been selected to host ODYSSEUS Space’s Cyclops™ Space2Ground laser communication terminal on an upcoming mission, empowering rapid and secure Space2Ground data transfer. As the space industry confronts downlink bottlenecks due to limited spectrum availability in traditional radio frequency communications, Reflex and Odysseus are stepping up to demonstrate the next generation of laser communication solutions. This upcoming mission will showcase an in-orbit demonstration (IOD) of Odysseus’ Cyclops, a satellite laser terminal. By 2026, Reflex and Odysseus will be capable of providing customers with high-performance satellite platforms with space-to-ground laser communication capabilities. https://lnkd.in/d_-kj5Fv Walter Ballheimer Dennis Moore Jordan Vannitsen Marco Agnan #S2G #LaserCommunications
