India's Female Labor Force Participation Rate (FLFPR) currently stands at a dismal 37%. In order to counteract this, we must enact specific initiatives to alleviate the burden of balancing work and caregiving and tackle barriers. Moreover, it's vital to recognize that the FLFPR only accounts for organized labor, leaving out a significant portion of women in the informal sector. To truly #CountHerIn, we must address the barriers faced by women in both organized and unorganized sectors. By implementing inclusive policies and providing support tailored to the diverse needs of women in all types of work, we can ensure their full participation in the workforce and drive forward gender equality. #workingwomen #genderequality #indianwomen #womenempowerment #CountHerIn #EmpowerWomen #IWD2024 Source: Ministry of Women and Child Development Illustration by Sakshi Chandak

International Women's Day is a day to reflect on how far we’ve come towards gender equality since the first IWD in 1911, and also to recognise how far we have left to go. Here's some stats: 🛑 47,000 women and girls were killed by their male partners or family members in 2020 – and those are only the deaths we know about. 🛑 47 countries still have no repercussions for husbands who rape their wife. 🛑 2.7 billion women are legally restricted from having the same choice of jobs as men. 🛑 8.6% is the size of New Zealand's gender pay gap (2023). 🛑 45 countries do not have specific laws against domestic violence. 🛑 30% of women globally have experienced sexual or physical violence in their lifetime. The demands on women are huge, the expectations unrealistic & when you add the above information, that globally women are still facing so much violence...... it's a wonder we smile at all 🤷♀️ Let's show our appreciation for all those who came before, those here with us now & those who will come after. #IWD #IWD2024 #womeninbusiness #womensupportingwomen #womenempoweringwomen

Gender equality is not only a fundamental human right but also the foundation for a sustainable world #ForEveryChild. Together, let’s make sure equality isn’t only a right, but a fact. There has been progress over the last decades: More girls are going to school, fewer girls are forced into early marriage, more women are serving in parliament and positions of leadership, and laws are being reformed to advance gender equality. Despite these gains, many challenges remain: discriminatory laws and social norms remain pervasive, women continue to be underrepresented at all levels of political leadership, and 1 in 5 women and girls between the ages of 15 and 49 report experiencing physical or sexual violence by an intimate partner within a 12-month period. The effects of the COVID-19 pandemic could reverse the limited progress that has been made on gender equality and women’s rights. The coronavirus outbreak exacerbates existing inequalities for women and girls across every sphere – from health and the economy, to security and social protection.

#MarchMadness06 - Still Urgent: #IWD🌟 🌍 According to the latest report from the World Economic Forum, achieving gender parity won't occur in our lifetime or even in our children's. We're looking at 2157 for that milestone. 😔 But amidst these daunting statistics, there's hope. An additional $360 billion annually could pave the way for gender equality. Closing gender gaps in employment could turbocharge GDP by 20%, and investing in care services could create a staggering 300 million jobs by 2035! 💼 However, if we don't act now, more than 342 million women and girls could be trapped in extreme poverty by 2030. 😟 👩🚀 Let's accelerate progress towards a more equitable world. 💪✨ #IWD2024 #countherin #accelerateprogress Link to the report here: https://lnkd.in/dzkpMDfr

🚀 Help Us Drive Gender Equality! As part of our ElevateHER initiative at Elevate Global , we’re launching a new survey to drive meaningful change towards gender equality and inclusivity in the workplace. We’re aiming to gather as many responses as possible to gain a real understanding of the current landscape for women at work, and we’d love your help! Research shows that women are 25% more likely than men to face workplace discrimination (World Economic Forum, Global Gender Gap Report 2023). While the survey focuses on experiences related to female colleagues, we value insights from all genders to ensure a comprehensive view. Your participation will not only help us develop policies on important issues like female health, parental leave, and caregiving but also contribute to a report that will be published and shared for broader implementation. Today, on #InternationalWomensDay, we reflect on the progress we've made towards gender equality, and celebrate remarkable contributions and achievements by women worldwide. 🌍💪 However, despite progress, there are still barriers that continue to create disadvantage for women. 🚧 The journey towards gender equality requires continuous effort, both in Australia and around the world, as we strive for equal opportunities in education, in the workforce, and in our homes and communities. 👩🏫👩💼🏡 Caregiving responsibilities predominantly fall on women, impacting their career prospects and overall well-being. Did you know that women represent seven out of ten primary caregivers? 💼👩👧👦 In the healthcare sector, achieving gender equality is crucially important. Gender stereotypes can affect the treatment of women's health issues, while men may delay seeking healthcare, and discrimination can impact gender-diverse individuals. 🩺👩⚕️ By challenging stereotypes and norms, and taking action against inequality, we not only enhance the safety, financial stability, and mental well-being of women but also foster a more inclusive society for everyone. 💡 Curious to explore further?
