🌟On International Women's Day, we honor the remarkable achievements of women worldwide while acknowledging the persistent challenges that continue to impede gender equality. Let us reflect on the progress made and recommit ourselves to dismantling barriers that hinder the advancement of women in every sphere. 📉Despite strides in workplace equality, the gender pay gap remains a stark reality. Globally, women earn approximately 82 cents for every dollar earned by men. This disparity not only deprives women of financial security but also undermines their contributions to the workforce. 🤰 Shockingly, discrimination against pregnant women in the workplace remains prevalent. Many women face discrimination, ranging from reduced responsibilities to outright dismissal, solely because of their pregnancy. This discrimination not only harms individual women but perpetuates systemic inequalities. 💪On International Women's Day, let us amplify the voices of women, celebrate their achievements, and advocate for gender parity in all aspects of life. Together, we can create a more inclusive and equitable world where every woman has the opportunity to thrive. Achieving gender equality in the workplace is essential for a thriving and inclusive society. Addressing subtle biases, like the likeability penalty that women often face in leadership roles, is crucial. At Empanda, we are dedicated to driving gender equality in business and the workplace, in line with SDG 5: Gender Equality. Gender equality is not just a women's issue; it’s a human issue that requires the active participation of both men and women. To achieve this, we need to demand equality and actively give it. Understanding and addressing our subliminal biases is essential. We must recognise the challenges women face, such as having to prove their competence repeatedly.
