We've got to move away from "what we've always done" and move toward "what works" in behavioral health. That's where evidence-based practices come in. Check out this toolkit we authored for the National Council for Mental Wellbeing with practical guidance on how to implement them, and which ones are worth considering. Mecklenburg County ReCAST II program is sponsoring a FREE lunch and learn series designed particularly for those involved in direct service provision for youth and families. Resiliency in Communities After Stress and Trauma (ReCAST II) is a grant-funded program through Mecklenburg County Public Health and supported by the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA). ReCAST II supports the community by building the capacity of Mecklenburg County to implement trauma-informed approaches to improve the mental health and wellbeing of county residents. This is accomplished through a comprehensive approach to workforce training and developing, collaborations across organizations, and authentic community engagement. NADD’s 41st Annual Conference in Tempe, AZ, October 7-9, 2024 will include Cultural Considerations for Clinically Treating Adults with IDD & Mental Health Needs. This presentation will share the results of an analysis of data from the 2022-2023 National Core Indicators-IDD In-Person Survey of race and ethnic disparities in assessment and diagnosis among individuals with IDD who have a Mental Health Condition diagnosis or who experience behavior challenges, controlling for other relevant personal and demographic characteristics such as living arrangement, state of residence, level of disability and more.
