It's Sustainable Development Week, a chance to take a world tour of the Elis Group's actions! Each year, it's an opportunity for Elis sites to explain key sustainable development concepts to their teams, and to see how to improve their environmental and social performance on a daily basis, both at home and in the workplace. The Elis Group's CSR strategy is based on its circular economy model and increasingly responsible products and services. My key take away* from Day Two of the Amazon MGM Studios Ascend Sustainability training program today: As an industry, we need a cultural shift to view sustainability through the same lens that we use to view diversity. For eg. how do you be more inclusive and enhance diversity on sets? You rethink the way you hire - you step out of the box and bring new people into the consideration pool. The same principal must be applied when trying to make sustainability a priority in order to increase demand for crew who value sustainable practices. When crewing your next job PLEASE ask after someone’s stance on sustainability. Ask about their previous experiences on other productions and what sustainable initiatives they’d like to see implemented on the next show. Add sustainable responsibilities to job descriptions. Help to plant the seed during the hiring phase so that people begin to realise that if they want to maintain relevance in the industry than this is an area they need to pay attention to & take an interest in! *NB: this was my personal conclusion & wasn’t in the module

The last day of the Ecochallenge event is here and it feels like the Earth Month has gone by in a flash 🚅. Key takeaways for me are the habits I built, the knowledge I gained and of course the actions I managed to accomplish together with the #Emerson Cluj team (🌳 & 🌊). Many thanks to Emerson & Ecochallenge.org for giving me the opportunity to participate in this year's event. I have been dithering all day about what kind of post for #worldenvironmentday ? Upski or scary ? Do I highlight what happend this week in Texas. India, Brazil, Sri Lanka, Germany with all the terrifying extreme weather events ? Or focus on what we can do ? So I am going to do both, we all have hopes and fears . I am superproud that we are hosting the first EcoGrad event at Islington Climate Centre on Sat 15th June an event designed to help recent Sustainbility grads find the right jobs Getting the right skills in the right places is key for our transition, what are the best jobs of the future and where do we need to skill up ? Trisha Guevarra has coem up with a great event and it is pretty much sold out already so i know we are supporting soemthgin with huge potential. How are you planning your transition at your business,do you have the skills you need already ? So let's get planning let's get this transition done asap because we are on borrowed time. I am often asked if it is already too late to stop climate change ? and the answer is YES especially for those peoples who's lives have already been devastated or ended just this past week all over the world.
