We are thrilled to announce that Eloi Codina Torras, Adrià Fenoy Barceló, and Òscar Hernández Rodríguez, 3 of our most passionate team members at Meteosim, are diving into an exciting project for the ECMWF Code for Earth program. Their mission is to develop an application that elevates the quality of regional-scale pollutant concentrations to urban-scale precision across various urban areas in Europe (downscaling from 10 x 10 km to 100 x 100 m). This means refining data from the CAMS European Air Quality Reanalysis to provide granular insights into air quality at ground level. They will be leveraging sophisticated downscaling techniques to bridge the gap between regional and urban air quality assessments. By combining cutting-edge Machine Learning methodologies with well-stablished geospatial data processing techniques, they aim to integrate land use, demographics, satellite data, traffic information, and other impactful data sources to providehighly accurate urban-scale pollutant concentrations.  The challenge lies in ensuring our downscaled concentrations align closely with ground-based measurements, enabling them to assess their performance rigorously. The goal isn't just to create an application; it's to provide a reliable tool for decision-makers to understand and improve air quality in urban environments.  At Meteosim, we're passionate about leveraging meteorology and environmental data to empower businesses. This project exemplifies our commitment to innovation, as we apply cutting-edge techniques to address pressing environmental challenges.
