𝐖𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐦𝐚𝐤𝐞𝐬 𝐓𝐮𝐫𝐤𝐢𝐬𝐡 𝐋𝐚𝐧𝐠𝐮𝐚𝐠𝐞 𝐮𝐧𝐢𝐪𝐮𝐞: 1. Turkish does not have grammatical gender, simplifying some aspects of learning and usage compared to languages that do. This indicates that 𝐰𝐨𝐦𝐞𝐧 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐦𝐞𝐧 𝐚𝐫𝐞 𝐜𝐨𝐧𝐬𝐢𝐝𝐞𝐫𝐞𝐝 𝐞𝐪𝐮𝐚𝐥 𝐢𝐧 𝐓𝐮𝐫𝐤𝐢𝐬𝐡 𝐬𝐨𝐜𝐢𝐞𝐭𝐲, 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐰𝐨𝐦𝐞𝐧 𝐚𝐫𝐞 𝐨𝐟𝐭𝐞𝐧 𝐯𝐢𝐞𝐰𝐞𝐝 𝐚𝐬 𝐞𝐬𝐩𝐞𝐜𝐢𝐚𝐥𝐥𝐲 𝐯𝐚𝐥𝐮𝐚𝐛𝐥𝐞. 2. Vowel Harmony: Turkish features a system of vowel harmony, where vowels within a word harmonize to be either front or back vowels. This affects suffixes, which change form based on the vowels in the root word. 3. Pronouns and Possession: Pronouns and possessive forms are integrated into nouns, often making it clear who owns what without the need for a separate word. 4. Each letter has its own sound, and this sound never changes regardless of its position in a word. 5. Of course, we use some shortcuts while speaking, but grammatically, it is written as pronounced. 6. There are more... 7. Lastly, I teach Turkish, and my learners enjoy learning the language in my way. :-) Stay healthy! Kadir Yilmaz 0090 533 437 90 38

From Spanglish to Franglais: What are hybrid languages? We found this article on hybrid languages to be quite insightful. Here’s an excerpt: “Otherwise known as Frenglish, this is a mix of… you guessed it, French and English. Despite the work of the Académie française to police the French language, the average person has adopted many Englishisms into their everyday parlance. One example would be the word “email” which the Académie française wanted French people to call a “courriel”. However, the popularity of the original technological term has often prevailed in quotidian chatter.” https://lnkd.in/dBy975rK #wordaptitude #languages #languageacquisition #onlinetutoring #english #french #euronews

👅 Are you bilingual? The answer to this question may surprise you. What does the dictionary say about bilingualism? ➡ According to the PWN Dictionary of the Polish language, “bilingual” means “speaking two languages.” The level and fluency don’t matter! If someone says that they are bilingual, it does not necessarily mean that they have mastered both languages perfectly and at an EQUAL level. (Such cases are rare!) ▶ It is simply a person who is able to create intelligible utterances in familiar languages ◀ So yes, language learners are also classified as bilingual! ❗ But... What about children who have parents of different nationalities? Or they use one language at home and another outside the home? 🏡 Such children are also bilingual! Except that... 👪 In such case, we talk about so-called “natural” or “family” bilingualism – that is, contact with two languages within the family and the environment from the earliest years of life. Without the participation of schools or other institutions that “organize” learning. 📒 To sum up: Bilingualism = can be acquired through schooling or in courses Natural bilingualism = communicating in 2 languages from a young age in the family So, are you bilingual? Or even multilingual? 🌍 #balajcza #languages #languagelearning #bilingualism #naturalbilingualism
