Long live TCM!
It was 30 years ago today... April 14, 1994 From Founder Bill: I was a stand-in at the morning run-through for our launch in Times Square. The MC - mic booming - introduced me as, among other things, "the director of the 1970 classic, 'Love Story,' Arthur Hiller!" Passersby must have thought I'd either had a lot of work done or directed "Love Story" when I was 6. They were extra confused minutes later when that same voice said, "She starred in such films at Seven Brides for Seven Brothers. Welcome to the stage, Jane Powell!" and I walked back up. That was an incredibly fun time for all of us. Many thanks to Ted Turner and all of my colleagues who were there that day and those who came after me and built such and incredible channel and brand, of which we're all so proud. Here's looking at you, TCM! #longliveTCM #notjanepowell Bill Burke
were you like 12 years old when you worked there? 😂
How do you get better looking with age! :-)
There doesn’t seem to be anything you can’t do. Promise when you turn 80 you’ll run for president too.
I'll be with Teresa Artis (Artis Neal) tomorrow and will get "the rest of the story." Growing up in Atlanta, we had a special appreciation for TCM.
Wow, seems like a lifetime ago and also yesterday! Thanks for sharing and hope you are well.
such a fabulous mission Bill Burke!
