A report I read yesterday stated that $15.9 billion dollars was given to candidates and political action committees during this election cycle. This is an amazing total considering many if not most nonprofits are reporting a decrease in donations. Meanwhile the candidates and their political action committees spend those billions trashing each other with behavior worse than 5 year old children in the playground. Imagine what nonprofits as a sector could do to reduce homelessness, food insecurity, childcare, eldercare and other issues of society with over $15 billion dollars. 🛋️ Event Planning Post | Las Vegas Giveback This year, we have been partnering with local organizations in Las Vegas to make a positive impact with the Healthcare Advocate Summit. Anyone involved in event planning knows the high markups on rentals and furniture, and the total cost this can add up to for three days of furniture. So, we decided to cancel our entire show order this week and purchase the items ourselves. At the close of our event, we are thrilled to support the CARE Complex which helps those who are homeless transition into unfurnished apartments. We will be donating our items to this wonderful organization. NEW: Rising unaffordability is contributing to the donor drop in Canada. But new data suggests there's another key culprit: declining social connectedness. In 2023, 84% of people with 7-10 close friends reported making a donation on CanadaHelps' giving platform. The same was true for just 53% of people with 0 or 1 close friend.
