The U.S. is boosting its bioeconomy with a $2 billion investment in biomanufacturing, focusing on Sustainable Aviation Fuels (SAF) and alternative proteins. By 2040, up to 1.2 billion tons of biomass could come from sources like camelina and macroalgae. Collaboration and long-term policies are key to driving this sustainable future. 💡 How do you see biorefineries impacting the bioeconomy? #Bioeconomy #SAF #Sustainability #Innovation

Honored to speak today at the Conference of Paris during the roundtable “From biomass to business: unlocking the potential of the agricultural bioeconomy,” at the OECD headquarters. Alongside inspiring leaders such as Nicolas HIERONIMUS (CEO, L'Oréal), Aurelien Hamelle (President Strategy & Sustainability, TotalEnergies), Sabrina Soussan (Chairwoman and CEO, SUEZ), Luca de Meo (CEO, Renault Group), and many others, we are exploring key topics to transform biomass into economic opportunities and accelerate the transition to sustainable agriculture. This session provides an opportunity to reflect on bio-based solutions capable of supporting both responsible agricultural practices and economic growth. At Carbios, we firmly believe that innovation and collaboration are at the heart of a successful circular economy. This roundtable offers a unique moment to collectively imagine strategies that minimize reliance on fossil resources and maximize the value of existing waste. A big thank you to the OECD-OCDE and all participants for this opportunity to exchange and collaborate. Together, let’s build a resolutely more sustainable future. #Bioeconomy #CircularEconomy #Sustainability #CARBIOS #OECD #ConfPARIS International Economic Forum of the Americas

#Bioeconomy could change the way we produce #energy, #food and #feed, (and even the way we live). The main objective is to replace 🛢️ the fossil-based economy by a 🌿♼ bio-circular economy. The JRC report confirms again that bioeconomy is not necessarily more environmentally friendly. Trade-offs are involved. At the 🇪🇺 EU level, resource efficiency is increasing due to an improving energy efficiency, waste recovery, and the value of raw biomass. But the big 'however' is; the pressure on #ecosystem simultaneous increases. We are now member of the German Biochar e.V. (German Biochar Association)! Great learnings and meetings at the German Biochar Forum last week, from the use of biochar by German municipalities, the development of standards such as BISKO and the upcoming GHP Protocol Land Sector and Removals Guidance, to the possible inclusion of Biochar CDR in the EU ETS. At Planet2050, we are committed to scaling #biochar, particularly in emerging markets. For agrarian economies, biochar presents a unique opportunity to build resilience and unlock sustainable value chains in agriculture and beyond. It can also provides an additional, permanent, high-integrity solution to capture CO2 and avoid methane emissions from decomposing biomass, activities which Net-Zero companies can integrate in their strategy through Carbon Dioxide Credits (#CDR) to neutralize residual emissions. 😊 As we celebrate Labour Day, let's extend our heartfelt gratitude to the farmers, who are the foundation on which our nation's agricultural economy thrives and are playing an instrumental role in powering our sustainable energy future. 🌱 Traditionally, agricultural residues such as stubble and biomass were often overlooked and considered mere waste destined for decomposition or burning, which contributed to air pollution. However, with advancements in technology and a heightened awareness of environmental issues, these byproducts are now recognized as valuable resources for energy production. 💡 At Indi Energy, we've developed a practical solution for harnessing these resources. Our patented sodium-ion batteries utilize proprietary hard carbon, a.k.a. BioBlackTM, as anode, derived primarily from straw stubble and biomass, and boast exceptional electrochemical capabilities. 🌿 Through collaboration between the agricultural and energy sectors, we have the opportunity to maximize the potential of agricultural byproducts, driving positive environmental and socioeconomic change.
