Ortho-Nitroaniline, a model system for the insensitive high explosive TATB, is much more stable than similar nitroaromatics, making it less susceptible to accidental ignition. What about this molecule makes it so much more stable? In this work, the authors investigate, using femtosecond time-resolved mass spectroscopy alongside theoretical calculations to explain.
