🏆 𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗜𝗺𝗽𝗼𝗿𝘁𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗲 𝗼𝗳 𝗖𝗼-𝗖𝘂𝗿𝗿𝗶𝗰𝘂𝗹𝗮𝗿 𝗔𝗰𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗲𝘀: 𝗟𝗲𝘀𝘀𝗼𝗻𝘀 𝗳𝗿𝗼𝗺 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗙𝗼𝗼𝘁𝗯𝗮𝗹𝗹 𝗜𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗿-𝗕𝗮𝘁𝗰𝗵 𝗔𝗰𝗮𝗱𝗲𝗺𝘆 𝗧𝗼𝘂𝗿𝗻𝗮𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁 I recently had the honor of being invited as a guest to the Football Inter-Batch Academy Tournament organised by Best Shots Watching these young athletes compete reminded me of the vital role co-curricular activities play in our personal and professional development. 𝗖𝗼-𝗰𝘂𝗿𝗿𝗶𝗰𝘂𝗹𝗮𝗿 𝗮𝗰𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗲𝘀 𝗹𝗶𝗸𝗲 𝘀𝗽𝗼𝗿𝘁𝘀 𝘁𝗲𝗮𝗰𝗵 𝘂𝘀 𝗶𝗻𝘃𝗮𝗹𝘂𝗮𝗯𝗹𝗲 𝗹𝗲𝘀𝘀𝗼𝗻𝘀 𝘁𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗴𝗼 𝗯𝗲𝘆𝗼𝗻𝗱 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗰𝗹𝗮𝘀𝘀𝗿𝗼𝗼𝗺: 𝗥𝗲𝘀𝗽𝗲𝗰𝘁 𝗬𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗖𝗼𝗮𝗰𝗵𝗲𝘀: Coaches are mentors who guide us, instill discipline, and help us reach our potential. Always show them respect and gratitude for their dedication and wisdom. 𝗟𝗲𝗮𝗿𝗻 𝘁𝗼 𝗙𝗮𝗶𝗹: Failure is an inevitable part of the journey to success. Embrace it, learn from it, and use it as a stepping stone to achieve greater things. 𝗣𝗮𝗿𝘁𝗶𝗰𝗶𝗽𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗠𝗮𝘁𝘁𝗲𝗿𝘀 𝗠𝗼𝘀𝘁: Winning or losing is part of the game, but the most important aspect is participation. Being involved, putting in the effort, and experiencing the camaraderie and competition is what truly counts. Watching the tournament, I saw firsthand how these young athletes demonstrated these principles. They respected their coaches, learned from their mistakes, and, most importantly, participated with enthusiasm and sportsmanship. Let's encourage more participation in co-curricular activities. They shape our character, build resilience, and prepare us for the challenges and successes life throws our way. #CoCurricularActivities #Sportsmanship #Respect #LearningFromFailure #ParticipationMatters #FootballTournament

Great coaches make practices hard because they never want the game to be tougher than their team’s level of preparation. Great players learn how to embrace hard work because they know how difficult the big games will be. They may not always enjoy being challenged, but they understand what winning takes and are willing to sacrifice personal comfort for team success. If having fun at practice is your number one priority go play rec league or pickup ball at the YMCA. You clearly aren’t interested in winning meaningful championships. #WorkoutAndOutwork #WinningIsFun

When the mental element of the game is the software that enables the hardware to thrive: With many young talented players and teams gearing up for the rugby state championships in Coffs Harbour this weekend, it’s been a packed week or two delivering mindset and mental skills coaching to those looking to ensure they have their collective heads firmly in the game! Our workshops have been full and the attendees have gained fundamental mindset tools to ensure they are at their best both on and off the field. For the state championships. We cover key mental skills topics such as: 1: Tools to help control thoughts & emotions 2: Techniques to manage pre game anxiety 3: How to embrace a “me” vs “me” mindset 4: How to bounce back immediately after a mistake 5: Strategies to use positive imagery and visualisation techniques 6: How to mentally & physically shift up a gear to create game changing moments 7: Effective tools to remain confident and avoid complacency 8: How to enable a strong inner voice to exist 9: Dealing with disappointment 10: Building strong cohesion and healthy cultures where egos have no place Our MPT Method is now rolled out across rugby union, rugby league and AFL. It’s fantastic to see so many coaches and players embrace mental skills and incorporate it into their season training plans. Most only realise its significance when things are not going well, and it then becomes a reactive coaching response. Teams that are winning or are top of their comps work with us too, because they are on top, not just when they are trying to get to that top spot. Keep upgrading the software, to enable the hardware to operate at peak levels consistently! Thank you to all the coaches who have engaged with us these past 2 weeks…and thank you Michael Clark for the opportunity to work with your state champ team. The way you practice directly impacts your performance. We had an incredible practice last week – probably the best JV session of the season. And on Friday night, the team played their best game yet. Remember, how you prepare is how you'll perform in real-game situations. Give your best effort every time. Don’t cheat yourself, because that’s cheating the team. You’re capable of more. For more tips on building confidence and excelling, follow Real Rich Grogan. Talk soon! God bless. . . 🌟 Learning from Nicola: Sportsmanship, Knowledge, and Teamwork in Action 🌟 I recently had the privilege of learning from Nicola, and it’s an experience that left me both inspired and enriched. Nicola embodies qualities that are essential for both personal and professional growth: 1️⃣ True Sportsmanship: Nicola’s approach to collaboration is rooted in fairness, respect, and teamwork. Watching him in action reminded me how important it is to bring these values into everything we do, both on and off the field (or workplace!). 2️⃣ A Library of Knowledge on Testing: Nicola’s depth of expertise in testing is simply remarkable. Whether it’s the fundamentals or advanced strategies, his ability to share knowledge with clarity and precision felt like opening a treasure trove of insights. 3️⃣ The Best Team Player: Nicola’s dedication to supporting and uplifting the team is second to none. His ability to foster collaboration and ensure everyone feels included and valued is truly inspiring. Learning from individuals like Nicola is a reminder that true greatness comes from a combination of skill, humility, and a willingness to uplift others. I’m grateful for the opportunity to grow and inspired to bring these lessons into my own work. #Learning #Sportsmanship #Testing #Teamwork #ProfessionalGrowth

Over the last few weeks I have been carving out time for IDP’s. Players have set individual performance goals for the next part of the season, clear, technically challenging, holistic development opportunities. Each of them have been so different. For me as a coach, the magic has been in the conversations and getting to know a little bit more about the human being, their family, their course, their passions, how they feel about rugby and simply being at university. On nearly every occasion it has deepened my understanding of them as an individual. Coaching a large squad in a sport like rugby it can be challenging getting to know people when there are 45-50 people on a pitch. 1 to 1’s have been a brilliant opportunity to deepen coach-athlete relationships. Wondering how else can you foster getting to know your people? #rugbycoaching #coach

This weekend, I had the privilege of coaching our BWP team at the Swift All Star and Love Day Hoops Tournaments. I want to share a moment of pride and reflection. We started rough, facing some tough losses. But what happened next? Our players showed me exactly why I do this job. The resilience, the fight, the unwavering spirit these young athletes displayed was nothing short of inspiring. They didn't let early setbacks define them. Instead, they rallied, supported each other, and competed with everything they had. In one of our huddles, I found myself writing "Do whatever it takes to win" on the board. It wasn't about the score - it was about giving their all, about pushing beyond limits, about rising to the challenge. And boy, did they rise. As a coach, nothing makes me prouder than seeing our players embody the values we strive to instill - perseverance, teamwork, and the courage to face adversity head-on. This weekend reminded me why I love what I do. It's not just about basketball. It's about shaping character, building resilience, and preparing these young people for life's challenges. To my BWP family - players, parents, and supporters - thank you for an unforgettable weekend. We may not have won every game, but in my book, you're all champions. #ProudCoach #BWPFamily #YouthDevelopment #BasketballLife #NeverGiveUp
