That's a wrap for Verge24. There was giga tonnes of networking with founders, thought leaders, investors, corporates and government officials. All keen to find, fund, and acclerate an action plan for addressing climate change. For those concerned, the conference was net zero, with all travel offset by the organizers (and again by attendees) but more needs to be done if we want net zero by 2050. A lot more, and we were given a sobering speech by Saul Griffiths on this point. As an act of optimism, we toured Stanford's Central Energy Facility today. Stanford had its peak emissions in 2011, and has reduced emissions by 80% since then. With huge infrastructure investment, the upfront cost being called the "green monster", they now have secure (well, nearly) and cheap renewable energy for the 8100 acre campus, and also a 75% reduction for water use. Nexus Labs' work to advance the #smartbuildings industry isn't just for tech's sake... it's to solve real problems in addressing the climate crisis. At #NexusCon, we wanted to offer an opportunity to enjoy the nature we're committed to preserving! So that's why, after the sessions are over, we've coordinated two hikes for participants to get outside and experience the beauty of the Colorado mountains! One will be "easy" and one will be a bit more advanced (though neither should be taken lightly, especially if you're coming from the flatlands!) Both will begin at the base of the Flatirons mountains in Boulder, with one clocking in at 2.4 miles and 400 ft of elevation gain, and the other at 3.3 miles and 1,400 ft of gain ⛰️ If you're attending, which one are you planning on doing? The Innovation Centre for Industrial Transformation and Emissions is moving forward! We’ve just launched a new #INCITE information platform. It’s an online space where users can submit and consult data and information on innovative clean technologies for large industrial plants. The platform gives an overview of the environmental performance, technology maturity and cost-effectiveness of these technologies using interactive maps, lists and tables. As of today, around 20 innovative projects are already included in the platform to demonstrate its functionalities.
