Earlier this month, CropLife International hosted its Festival of Stewardship centered on "unlocking the potential of sustainable agriculture." Evelyn Lusenaka, the Director of Stewardship at CropLife AME, was a guest speaker at this year's Festival. In her panelist presentation, on the topic of ‘enhancing impact’, Evelyn shared insightful perspectives on CropLife AME's strategy for impactful stewardship, emphasizing the focus on key value chains like coffee, sugar cane, rice, and horticulture. This targeted approach allows us to address specific stewardship issues unique to each value chain, enabling us to measure the impact of their interventions effectively. By working closely with farmers in these areas and implementing stewardship practices, we aim to enhance employment opportunities, increase farmers' incomes, and improve market access. Stewardship lies at the heart of CropLife AME’s mission. Through our intentional and structured stewardship efforts, we aspire to unleash the potential of sustainable agriculture in the AME region. ✨🌱 #CropLife #SustainableAgriculture #StewardshipEfforts.

In the world of agriculture, innovation is key to sustainable growth and ecological harmony. Our approach goes beyond traditional methods, harnessing the power of nature's biodiversity to cultivate thriving ecosystems alongside food plants. Rural farming isn't just about cultivation—it's about fostering fertility, embracing organic practices, and championing biodynamic agriculture. It's a holistic approach that prioritizes the health of our planet and the well-being of our communities. Natural farming and organic farming are integral components of agroecological practices, where the emphasis lies in utilizing bio inputs sourced from local ecosystems, rather than relying on external resources. By nurturing the inherent richness of each farm and its surroundings, we're not just growing crops—we're nurturing vibrant ecosystems that sustain us all. Join us in redefining agriculture, where innovation meets sustainability, and nature's diversity flourishes alongside our food plants. Together, we can cultivate a greener, healthier future for generations to come. #AgricultureInnovation #Sustainability #NaturalFarming #OrganicFarming #Agroecology #BiodynamicAgriculture

Last June, Leading Harvest hosted a Global Summit on Regenerative Agriculture in Chicago. The event brought together the organization’s global membership, representing over 3 million acres in farmland management across the U.S. and Australia, for the first time to advance sustainable agriculture objectives and scale collective impact. There are no straightforward solutions to the challenges facing our global food and agriculture systems, but the unlikely combination of attendees from across the value chain produced frank and fruitful conversations about obstacles that had not been discussed before. We look forward to our 2024 North America Summit for important conversations on the role of capital and land management in accelerating sustainability goals. The Forum for the Future of Agriculture has published their first Call to Action Annual Report (read it here: https://lnkd.in/edKjA8uS) and shared the progress made in a number of commitments, such as Regenerative Agriculture and Sustainable Supply Chains. Nestlé aims to source 20% of our key ingredients from farmers practicing regenerative agriculture by 2025 and we are already making progress: by the end of 2023 over 15% of our key ingredients came from farmers and land managers adopting these practices. In Northern France, since 2018 we've been working with farmers to implement regenerative agriculture methods through the Sols Vivants, which is supported by partners like Earthworm Foundation France and Lidl France. We are also proud participants in the Landscape Enterprise Networks (LENs) initiatives across Hungary, Italy, Poland, and the United Kingdom. In the UK alone in 2023, we've planted 7 kilometres of hedgerows and worked on 16,000 hectares of land through regenerative agriculture practices to enhanced soil, water health, and biodiversity! Our commitment to regenerative also extends to providing market-based incentives to farmers by investing over CHF1.2 billion to enhance regenerative agriculture by 2025. We believe our journey is just starting, but together we will progress faster! #WeAreNestlé #RegenerativeAgriculture #FutureOfAgriculture https://lnkd.in/eGqgRDbX
