New cultivar storage and ripening evaluation. Cultivar 1 is an Ultra-late dark skin cultivar. This cultivar excites me so much in terms of quality! This is day one of random sampling of more than a ton of fruit that was stolen and recovered. This means fruit was most likely dropped and handled quite rough. NO POST HARVEST TREATMENT. And was only brought into ripening a day after recovery. With a standard shelf life of 4+1, these fruit on day 6 with this quality consistency is quite remarkable. Simple fruit cutting to assist us in adjusting our harvesting strategy, assisted by Avor B.V., around the imminent early small fruit peak in the European market. With a higher hass crop and a bit of a drought in South Africa fruit size seems to be on the small end of the spectrum with 15-20% of early hass being too small for packing and the obvious hass peak on count 22/24 even slips a bit smaller. With healthy and alive seed and seed coats we are confident that our small fruit can safely size up a few counts, even with positive effects on total yield per hectare. In the meantime, we can focus on harvesting #Maluma_avo currently peaking on count 14-18. Also started playing around a bit with in-orchard fruit measurements with Aerobotics Obviously, with the new harvesting plan, this now becomes a critical and vital measurement point. #avo #avocado #agritech #jointheavolution #allesbeste_boerdery #palta
