Why do people ignore the issues, and then complain because of the consequences. This climate reality has been slowly worsening over the past 30 years to the alarming consequences of today. We need to get to Zet-Zero Now. And as the National Academies are calling for, now it has to be a holistic multi-faceted solution that can be replicated and shared or it isn't going to work, The water-energy-food nexus and the built environment of connected communities. This is exactly what we have been working on over the last several decades at the Lewis Bay Research Center, and now being built on Cape Cod and in Upstate New York with the Cape Cod and Susquahanna Watershed Institute Projects with Rotary International. Distributed, microgrid based SMART Community infrastructure as an evolutionary milestone, we are Launching Plan-B for our survival with our Lewis Bay Research, Earthshot Prize platform. www.autonomouscre.com

#Ecosperity Week Day 2 Highlights: Today’s panel discussions underscored the interconnectedness of #climate and #nature, making a compelling case for embracing nature-positivity. As an asset owner, investor and shareholder committed to delivering a resilient portfolio for the long term, we recognise nature’s role in mitigating and adapting to climate change, and look to catalyse nature-based solutions by collaborating with all parts of the capital stack.
What does integrating nature-positivity look like? This formed the crux of discussions on the second day of #Ecosperity Week 2024, where distinguished speakers raised key pointers around: 💡 Recognising the importance of interoperability of standards and frameworks towards achieving climate and nature-positivity goals 🤝 Approaches to synergise and mainstream views around carbon markets to catalyse all parts of the capital stack 📈 The vast potential to scale innovative tech and nature-based solutions in carbon-rich Asia In case you missed it, catch the recording from Day 2: https://lnkd.in/gFw9vd2M 📸 Featuring in order of appearance: Kavita Prakash-Mani, Dragonfly Advisory; Sir Partha Dasgupta, Frank Ramsey Professor Emeritus of Economics, University of Cambridge, Fellow of St John's College, Cambridge; HE Razan Al Mubarak, IUCN and UN Climate Change; Jennifer Morris, The Nature Conservancy; Frederick Teo, GenZero; Jamie Houston, Aurora Sustainable Lands; Robin Rix, Verra; Bill Townsend, Anew; Ling Min Hoon, GenZero; Emily McKenzie, Taskforce on Nature-related Financial Disclosures (TNFD); Sunny Verghese, Olam; Robert Swan, 2041 Foundation; Barney Swan, ClimateForce

Accelerating climate action is a race against time, and every step towards innovation is crucial. As part of the global sustainability community, I am deeply inspired by the progress highlighted in the latest The Earthshot Prize Impact Report. This initiative, which we at DP World proudly support, underscores the critical need for rapidly scaling innovative solutions to environmental challenges. The transformation from ideas to real-world impacts within just three years is a testament to what can be accomplished with collective effort and strategic investments. Since its inception in 2021, The Earthshot Prize has not only awarded £15M directly but also catalysed an additional £50 million in funding to amplify the impact of winners and finalists. These efforts have substantially reduced carbon emissions by 420,000 tonnes and eliminated 100,000 tonnes of waste, demonstrating the powerful effects of nurturing environmental innovation. As a founding Alliance Partner of The Earthshot Prize, DP World is committed to supporting significant projects like Coral Vita and Living Seawalls. Our involvement reflects a broader commitment to leveraging our resources and networks to scale up solutions that lead to a sustainable future. It’s initiatives like these that reinforce our dedication to environmental stewardship and inspire continued action across industries. While companies must focus on cutting operational and supply chain emissions, not just offsets, research is highlighting which approaches have the most robust scientific underpinnings. This should help build trust in the carbon markets, which are needed to scale the massive amounts of investment in nature needed to meet net zero #carbonmarkets #offsets #nature
Today, a new peer-reviewed paper, published in Nature, explores the different nature-based climate solutions that have proliferated in the marketplace in recent years, and the scientific confidence in each of them. 🌳 On #InternationalDayOfForests, the paper finds the solutions with the greatest potential impact on emissions and the greatest scientific confidence in GHG accounting are tropical and temperate forest conservation and restoration. 💡It also finds 70% of nature-based carbon credits generated by the four major registries have come from the four solutions with the highest scientific confidence, demonstrating that the majority of carbon market investment is going to solutions with strong scientific foundations. The study was developed by 27 authors from 11 institutions, including the Environmental Defense Fund, The Nature Conservancy and Columbia University. Two Canadian companies, CarbonRun and Planetary Technologies, along with Dalhousie University, are making waves in marine carbon removal technology, as featured in a recent piece by The New York Times. The spotlight shines even brighter on CarbonRun, now one of the biggest players in the sector after securing a $25 million deal with Frontier to help scale their innovative limestone technology for carbon removal. This collaboration reflects Canada's growing leadership in climate solutions and the potential of ocean-based carbon removal to make a real impact in the fight against climate change. 🌊🌿 Read the full article to learn more: nyti.ms/4e5Bmb7 #CarbonRemovalCanada #CarbonRemoval
