10 days ago on the Stanislaus NF the Sheering fire ignited by a lighting strike in a tree, classified as "full suppression". Yesterday they were going direct, now todyay: The fire is now 404 acres per the National Interagency Fire Center. Per Inciweb there are currently 24 firefighters assigned to the fire and the estimated containment date is 07/31/2024. The fuels involved include: Timber (Litter and Understory) excessive snags hazard trees  The planned actions are to hold the fire within the planning area or smaller utilizing natural barriers and previous fire scars. Full Suppression actions will be taken at every favorable opportunity. Weather concerns include an excessive heat warning in effect until Jul 9th and a Red Flag Warning to the north of the fire area. There is also above average temperatures at lower elevations in the next few days.

For those of us living in a cloud of smoke in the Colorado Denver metro area right now keeping track of what’s been going on this past week can be challenging. Between news articles that are updated at random intervals, posts on social media, and different agencies posting fire and evacuation maps it is challenging to get the whole picture. Most of us living here have friends and family spread out over the area and want to know where all of these fires are and how at risk the adjacent communities are. This way we can reach out and support evacuation, especially for people who may have more difficulty evacuating due to health, mobility, or access to transportation. Bintels mission is to work to aggregate this information because we know first hand what it’s like to need access to it. We remember the 2020 fire season and the Marshall fire. We also understand the different agencies are doing the best they can with the tools they have right now. 🤔 Food for thought. Is there a better way to manage emergency services in the U.S.? This thought provoking video cites statistics saying only 4% of FD calls involve actual building fires. The bulk of the calls are for non-fire related emergencies. A novel solution used in Europe and Dayton, Ohio are "emergency motorcycles" that can respond in less than half the time, arriving on-scene and stabilizing victims until more help and transport can get there. https://lnkd.in/gGZu86eZ
