More stress testing. This time with a larger chined sailing sloop. This is a 6m30s video captured during the process (which took about 2-hours). I have edited it a bit and increased the speed 2-times. Speed is crazy.

What do you do when things aren't blowing in the direction you want to go? During college, I had a unique experience one year to crew on a recreational racing yacht. One of my first questions was what happens when the wind wasn't blowing in the direction you want to go? I learned quickly that as long as their is wind, a skilled sailor can get his boat to go any place he wants. It takes some maneuvering and adjusting the sails. That lesson is key in life. The winds of fortune won't always be blowing in the right direction, but with some learned skills, you can get where you need to be. What are some ways you've learned to adjust your sails when things haven't gone as planned?

As 2024 comes to a close, I’ve been reflecting on what it takes to prepare for new challenges. This month, my sailboat Wahine underwent two haulouts—a mix of planned maintenance and dealing with surprises. From tackling major repairs to refining systems, every step was about ensuring readiness for the journey ahead. Preparation is key to navigating uncharted waters, whether it’s a sailboat or your career. What are you doing now to set yourself up for success in 2025? In this video, I share the behind-the-scenes work, a breakdown of costs, and my plans for the year to come. https://lnkd.in/gh--yFMa

As promised, Here is a Deep dive into collectAsStateWithLifecycle in Jetpack compose 😊. In my last post, I told you that collectAsStateWithLifecycle collects flow in a lifecycle-aware manner and converts the value into a State object which then can be passed into composable functions. But Have you ever wondered, What happens under the hood? 🤔 Here, we will see what's there under the hood. After understanding this you can even collect flows in lifecycle-aware manner without using collectAsStateWithLifecycle 😉. For diving deep into collectAsStateWithLifecycle Refer to the slides below.

How does a sailboat winch work? A winch uses the principles of torque and tension to apply a force: a sheet (line or rope) is wound round the winch drum, then is secured to prevent from coming loose. A hand crank is inserted into place at top, then the user rotates the crank in clockwise or counterclockwise direction to pull in the line. Sounds simple, right? The machine that makes this magic is anything but. Here's a view of what's inside a smaller winch from a 1981 Catalina 22 sailboat. 📸 @Stingy Sailor #sailboatparts #winch #sailboatboat #mechanicsofsailing #maintenance
