Bollinger+Grohmann’s Post

W o n The CHNO des Quinze-Vingts competition has been won for a project focused on the thermal renovation and elevation of the clinical building at the Quinze-Vingts National Ophthalmology Hospital, and we are in! This project, led by HARDEL LE BIHAN ARCHITECTES and involving several partners (such as Zefco), aims to support the hospital's transition towards environmental sobriety. During the competition, the selected participants were invited to submit an anonymous dossier with a design level corresponding to a preliminary outline (French APS phase). B+G's brief was to renovate the existing façade and investigate designs for new additions, including several elevations and a new entrance building. Our team focused on minimising time on site, using specialist FOB systems for blocks up to 12 metres long. We also focused on maximising the re-use of existing facades. The new prefabricated FOB-type envelope will avoid 208 TéqCO2 compared to a metal curtain façade. Based on parametric studies, the new cladding will reduce the building's energy consumption by 25% and enhance user comfort year-round. The project emphasises the extensive use of reused materials, both in-situ and ex-situ, avoiding over 150 TéqCO2 by reusing existing elements from the original façade. #engineering #france #reuse #parametric #facade #structure
