Chapter 1: The Dream Internship 🌟 The first time I saw the Intercontinental Phuket Resort, I knew it was more than just a hotel—it was the perfect place for me to start my journey in the hospitality world. As the number one hotel in Phuket, it stood out as the ideal place to learn and grow. Everything about it—the elegance, the reputation, the luxury—drove me to pursue this internship. Phuket, with its beautiful beaches, clear waters, and famous food, had always been a dream destination. I had never visited before, but I wasn’t afraid. I wasn’t there for the location; I was there for a bigger purpose: to learn from the best in the hospitality industry. Spending four months on this island was something I had always imagined. As I stepped into the resort on my first day, I felt a rush of excitement mixed with nerves. It was my first time living there, stepping into a world I had always dreamed of, but I was ready. I knew I was there to learn, work hard, and experience everything the hospitality industry had to offer. When I stood outside the hotel, breathing in the fresh air, I knew I was exactly where I needed to be. Every day ahead would teach me something new, challenge me, and bring me closer to my goal. This wasn’t just a dream anymore—it was happening. #InternshipJourney #HospitalityIndustry #DreamDestination #LearningAndGrowth

Recent collaboration with the Erasmus+ program has been an enriching experience at Jadran hoteli Rijeka. We were delighted to welcome students who eagerly engaged in various aspects of hotel operations. Their fresh perspectives and enthusiasm have greatly enhanced our environment. Reflecting on his journey with us at Hotel Neboder, Jakub shared his thoughts: How would you describe the working culture at our hotel to future interns or employees? "I’d describe it as laid-back, but in the best way. Everyone does what they need to without anyone shouting orders. In fact, everyone was consistently friendly and supportive of one another." If you could highlight one thing you will take away from this experience, what would it be? "Definitely the memories - especially the basics I learned about reception operations and communicating with guests." If you had to sum up your entire internship experience at our hotels in one sentence, how would you describe it? "It was a valuable experience, one I’d recommend to others who might be unsure about it—it was truly worth it." We’re thrilled to witness the potential of these young talents and look forward to their contributions to the hospitality field. #JadranHoteliRijeka #hospitality #Easmus+ #InternshipProgram

The Power of Connection in Hospitality A year ago, during my internship at the Kasara Executive Lounge at Anantara Siam Bangkok Hotel, I met this beautiful lady, Janet, who left a lasting impression on me. At first, it was just a casual interaction—I served her food and drinks, and we chatted. But as we talked, I realized how passionate she was about traveling and life. She’s a yoga instructor who has explored most of Southeast Asia and nearly half of the Western world. Her solo travels fascinated me. We’ve kept in touch since then, and her travel experiences have been a real eye-opener for me. She sees hotels and guest services through a traveler’s lens, pointing out things that work and areas that could be improved. As a hospitality student, learning directly from someone like her has been invaluable. Recently, I had the chance to catch up with her again, this time at Anantara Riverside Bangkok Resort. We spent the evening sharing experiences, and it reminded me of why I love this industry. Hospitality is about so much more than providing a service—it’s about connecting with people. Every guest has a story, and if you listen, you can learn something new every time. These interactions with each and every individual, inspire me to contribute more to this industry—to create meaningful experiences for others and, hopefully, have a positive impact on their journeys. Moments like these remind me why I chose hospitality in the first place: it’s not just a career; it’s a chance to connect, grow, and learn. ✨ #AIHM #AIHMHigher #Hospitality #Internship #GuestServiceExperience #Connection

Its been a month since I started my internship at JW Marriott Venice Resort & Spa and I thought it would be good to do a short reflection on what has been going on. The first couple of weeks are always a bit challenging, especially if you're new to the job but I found that three things increase your chances of learning and get acquainted faster: being proactive, learning from those who have some experience on the job and the old but very valuable, humility. This first month also reminded me of a quote from one of our leadership talks at the beginning of the year “undoing routines is hard but we need to put in the work to break the routines that stop us from achieving our full potential,” and although being challenging, this is key to growth. I've had to drastically change my routine which has made me embrace the simple things in life such as naps, walks around the neighborhood, sunrises and sunsets, quiet time at the park, etc. When it comes to the job, the interactions we have with guests are different everyday but for the most part, enjoyable. It's interesting how an exchange of smiles and greetings on the first day turns into an "I hope to see you on my next stay", "it was a please to meet you" or "I wish you the best in your endeavors" - this for me is the joy of hospitality, providing an instance for people to make a positive contribution in each others lives. The last month was a good start and I'm excited for what this month will bring. I hope to share more as I advance in this journey. PS: a quick video of the morning view on my way to work. #learning #growing #living

Have you ever walked through a place so rich in history that it sends chills down your spine? For me, that place was the The Taj Mahal Palace Hotel during my internship—a space that embodies resilience, courage, and grace. I vividly remember standing in the very spots where the 26/11 attacks unfolded. It wasn’t just a building; it was a living testament to the bravery of the staff, guests, and everyone who stood tall during those harrowing days. Those three months weren’t just about learning hospitality; they were about learning humanity. One of the greatest lessons I took away from my seniors at Taj was the power of connection. Networking wasn’t about exchanging pleasantries—it was about building trust, understanding people, and showing up for each other, even in the toughest times. As we remember the lives lost and honor the courage displayed 16 years ago, I ask: What does resilience mean to you? How do you turn challenges into opportunities to grow? For me, resilience is about showing up with grace, even when it’s hard. It’s about standing strong in adversity and finding lessons that propel us forward. Today, I carry these lessons with me in every interaction—listening, empathizing, and striving to make a difference, no matter how small. Let’s take a moment to honor those who inspire us to be better, braver, and kinder. ❤️ #Resilience #Learning #TajHotels #26November #LessonsForLife #Attackontajhotels #Taj
