Bossa Coffee Company’s Post

As we prepare to go to Brazil and check quality and quantity of harvest with our own eyes. One last update before we go: Brazil's 2024/25 coffee harvest reached 81% last Tuesday, ahead of the 74% recorded in the same period of the previous year and also the 77% average of the last five years for the period, according to Safras & Mercados. Also, according to the consultancy, work continues at a fast pace, taking advantage of the predominantly dry weather, and the downward revision in the size of the harvest also contributes to the speed. The drop in crop yield and reduction in grain size resulted in 360 liters of grain now needed to line a 60kg bag versus 280 liters on the harvest 23/24. Quality is overall also worrying not to mention sourcing 17/18 screen lots. The domestic market remains firm with the producer “waiting to see” and selling only the minimum necessary to pay short-term bills hoping to get even higher prices.
