𝐇𝐨𝐰 𝐝𝐨 𝐲𝐨𝐮 𝐬𝐜𝐚𝐥𝐞 𝐚 𝐛𝐮𝐬𝐢𝐧𝐞𝐬𝐬 𝐭𝐡𝐚𝐭'𝐬 𝐛𝐚𝐬𝐞𝐝 𝐨𝐧 𝐜𝐨𝐦𝐦𝐮𝐧𝐢𝐭𝐲? You create a movement and make the people involved better because of it 🌱 That's what Sallie Krawcheck did with Ellevest. Her goal wasn't just to build another financial platform, it was to empower women financially by closing the gender investment gap. From purpose to movement, and now with over $2 billion in assets under management, Sallie bet on both women's empowerment and education—and it has paid off 💼📈 I often get asked, “How can we grow our community?” but the question should be: "How can we make the people in our community more successful?" 🎯 Whether I'm talking to professional associations, global networks, or local interest groups, one universal principle applies: 𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐤𝐞𝐲 𝐭𝐨 𝐬𝐮𝐜𝐜𝐞𝐬𝐬 𝐢𝐬 𝐟𝐨𝐜𝐮𝐬𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐨𝐧 𝐯𝐚𝐥𝐮𝐞 𝐜𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐲𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐜𝐨𝐦𝐦𝐮𝐧𝐢𝐭𝐲 𝐦𝐞𝐦𝐛𝐞𝐫𝐬. Here's how to do it: 👇 🔍 Identify your community's core needs and pain points 🎯 Develop solutions that address these needs in unique, impactful ways 🤝 Curate interactions among members that guide them to their desired outcomes 📚 Continuously educate and empower your community 🎉 Celebrate and showcase member successes #activation #strategicleadership #communityengagement #businessstrategy #valuecreation

In case you missed it, we recently joined Oxfam / Prosperity Now for the launch of their new report "Unseen Work, Unmet Needs," focusing on both paid and unpaid labor and shedding light on the often invisible or underappreciated roles women play in the economy. WATCH the recap ⤵
🌟 We're grateful for the meaningful discussions we had last week at our event "Unseen Work, Unmet Needs" with OxFam! Together, we delved into critical issues surrounding women’s paid and unpaid labor in the US and the disproportionate impact on women of color working to make ends meet. Thanks to all who joined us for these insightful conversations! Together, we can build an economy that works for women of color. https://zurl.co/Ofvo

Homeownership is a huge source of inequity, especially for women. Yet, it is also the number one way to build wealth in the US. That’s why Austin Habitat for Humanity created the Women Build Network, a community of women that give back time and money to uplift other women by providing safe and affordable housing. The Austin Woman article below highlights the women involved in this program (including me!) and why we got involved. This program will shed some much-needed light on women’s housing and shelter challenges. But even better than that – I’m pumped to see women take action and make a difference in the life of another woman. Everyone has something to give. https://lnkd.in/eQkwFm6z #equity #womenbuild

Women are frequently on the front lines of social issues, from healthcare access to education equality. But are their voices always heard? How can we break down these barriers and empower women to be changemakers in their communities? Commonlands and CARE are addressing this issue by focusing on village savings and Loan Associations which are 80% women. By doing this and attaching access to much-needed financial resources, women are empowered and have a voice in decision-making, they were otherwise denied. The way forward is by incentivizing the behaviors we want to see. Agree? --- Like👍. Comment💬. 'IT'S WOMEN ONLY FOR A REASON' A great discussion at Women's Workshop in Amble last week for Community Foundation serving Tyne & Wear and Northumberland On The Table Talk. The women talked about rural women and discrimination, barriers for women in Northumberland, and ideas to create funding that better meets the needs of women and girls. And of course why women's only spaces are not just 'nice things' but necessary. Women need space to breathe and simply be, not just crisis services. One of the most powerful points raised (and there were many) was the way women, and the funding designed for women's services, often defined by so called 'women's issues'. VAWG, DV, and unequal care, are not women's issues they are discriminatory acts women are subjected to, not issues inherent to or belonging to women!

Did you know less than 2% of philanthropy goes to work supporting women and girls? Did you know that today is Giving Tuesday? Did you know that December is National Giving Month? Did you know that when women and girls thrive, we all win? Did you know that the greater the gender equality the higher a nation’s GDP? All true, and you know what to do! For suggestions for great nonprofits doing outstanding work check out The Giving List Women at GivingListWomen.com and help us moving billions of dollars toward organizations that uplift and give power to women and girls worldwide. Together we can make our world healthier and more just for everyone.
