That's a wrap! Thank you to everyone who came to learn more about Oshen last Friday at the IET in London😊. Here's the most popular questions we were asked, and our answers: --- Q: How do we know what sea state the micro-vessels can last in? A: We've tested in up to 25kt constant winds, 40kt gusts, and sea states just beyond the 'small craft warning'⛵ that indicates our 25ft chase boat should no longer be at sea (On the rougher end of 'Moderate' for people familiar with the shipping forecast). When we have a larger fleet later this year we look forward to taking bigger risks with individual micro-vessels and sending them on more challenging missions! --- Q: Have we considered magnetic couplers? A: Yes, especially as it could preserve the mast mechanism if the sail experienced shock loads in harsh conditions (e.g from a breaking wave 🌊). However, our main design ethos is simplicity, and we're going with a simpler design at present that maintains high spring stiffness🪢in the mast while ensuring it's not brittle. --- Q: What other applications could the micro-vessels have? A: In the talk, we covered our most immediate work on Biodiversity monitoring with a focus on protected species observations with DEFRA🐬(more details on this later this month!). This is a big R&D focus for us at the moment, so expect a lot of information about using our micro-vessels for cetacean monitoring in coming months. However, there are other applications of our micro-vessel technology: MetOcean data for more accurate forecasts⛈️, visual observations for Maritime Domain Awareness, low-power oceanographic sensors for scientific research 🧪... if you'd to know more, get in touch! Today is World Creativity and Innovation Day. And we need it! With the uncertainties posed by climate change, and the challenges of achieving Net Zero, we need all hands on deck – getting creative, being innovative, and exploring all the options in front of us. All engineers are creatives – though I have found that many don’t think of themselves that way. In the arts, the product of creativity may be a performance or a painting, a novel or a song. I love art and music - it inspires me, moves me and challenges me. In engineering, the product of creativity is solutions – new technologies, sure, but also troubleshooting, new ways of working, new ways of thinking. It’s often called ‘problem solving’. Perhaps this World Creativity and Innovation Day, we could celebrate all the creative problem solvers we know! Thank you for all you do! At FLSmidth Cement I have the pleasure of working with many bright engineers - many problem solvers, many innovators. I enjoy every moment of it. Who is your favorite problem solver/innovator?

@ Anmol Singh Thankyou sir ! Thank you for everything. It's been an incredible journey with you sir.... As we know, every new beginning signifies the end of something else. Throughout our journey, we encounter many people—some good, some challenging. However, each person teaches us something valuable, and it's our perspective that defines the experience. Anmol bhaiya, you are one of the best person I've ever met. Your unwavering support, even when you were busy, has been invaluable to me. I’ve learned so much from you. To me, you are more than just a senior; you are a mentor and a friend. I fondly recall those nights when I was stuck and feeling helpless, saying, "Bhaiya, I can't do this." You were always there to guide me through, patiently explaining everything in detail. There are two kinds of people in this world: those who create problems and those who help solve them. You are undeniably the latter. I also cherish the times we spent brainstorming unique ideas for events. Every successful event has a strong team behind it, and you were always at the heart of ours. I still remember: - Your constructive criticism... - Your insightful lectures... - Your innovative thinking... - Your way of conveying important truths about people I was close to but didn't fully understand 😅 - Your sharp observations... - Your constant drive to do something different. I could go on, but I’ll stop here. Just know that your guidance has made a significant impact on me. Bhaiya, God bless you. ♥️

REMARKS BY JAY NAIDOO Thank you for your invitation. It is a subject that is troubling most South Africans and especially Elders like me that have spent pour lifetimes as freedom fighters. The sad reality is that 40% of South Africans did not vote in our last election. This is a chilling statistic that should have been a national public debate. The question we have in our minds is how legitimate are those that today sit in our Parliament? Perhaps as interesting is the voting pattern did not give any party an outright majority. We can conclude that most South Africans to not trust our political parties, especially the old liberation movement in Africa, the ANC. I am tired of speaking in generalities. I live for the past three years in the North-West Province, close to Marikana. A province that Stats SA recently stated there are more unemployed than employed people. In this ecological catastrophe unfolding here I have chosen not to be an observer. This is our individual choice. 60 million South Africans should ask themselves, ‘What can I do to make a contribution towards nation building and healing ourselves and our country?’ So let me focus on what I am doing to make my contribution and challenge us all to do better. As I said I live in Magaliesberg Biosphere. This is a UNESCO WORLD HERITAGE SITE. This ancient mountain was the home to our ancestors Australopithecus between 2-4 million years ago. Interestingly in recent times Homo Naledi surfaced as another iteration before Homo Sapiens, close to 300000 years ago. Whether this is a separate species is still a debate. It is the reputed home of all biodiversity, and the beginning of geologic time. It is 2.2 billion years old. While it has given us the one of the wealthiest biospheres of life and biodiversity in the world, it also gave us 75% of the platinum group metals of the world. We have to assess whether tis was a curse or blessing.

Management-level transitions during an ongoing team development process are always a considerable challenge for everyone involved - the managers, the team and the consultants. I am pleased that we successfully overcame this challenge in close and uncomplicated consultation with Urs Fischer and involving the team of PHARMAPLANT Gmbh. #Teamdevelopment #Teamentwicklung #Leadership #BlackBox/Open®
Today marks my last day at PHARMAPLANT Gmbh. It was a short but very intensive time. We finalized the transformation from a company largely dependent on public funding into a lean and profitable CRO. Cutting costs while improving performance was only possible thanks to our highly dedicated team members and due to the great support of our key stakeholder MartinBauer. During the last year we invested into developing the team with the help of Dominik Kemmer. Today the team is more autonomous and taking more robust decision on its own. This team is now ready to absorb most of my functions with ease. So, this is for me the right time to say goodbye. Martin Wedel thank you so much for giving me the opportunity to lead Pharmaplant, for the support, the coaching and for introducing me into the world of botanicals! I will follow the development of your MartinBauer and proudly drink teas with MartinBauer ingredients.
