I recently came across this term in some text I was editing. What does it mean? It is a term used to describe additional items of dress or equipment. In a military context (as this text was) it was referring to additional kit: webbing, body armour, helmet, CBRN kit, foul weather gear etc. It can also be used in the context of food: a secondary item served alongside a main dish. Is this a term you have come across before?

Self-propelled (SP) mortars remain crucial in providing critical to fast-paced operations by mounted, mechanized and armored forces in battle across the world. Elbit Systems' fully autonomous Sling 120mm mortar system is easily operated by a small crew and delivers massive firepower to a range of up to seven kilometers. It has an automized and digitized capability with a fully integrated fire control system (FCS ) and can shoot all NATO standard munition and can support all effects (HE, SMK, ILL, Extended range) and the only operational GMM ( guided mortar munition). "In my 10 level Force Necessary: Knife course, after all the saber and reverse grip basics, standing through ground. Knife vs. hand. Knife vs. stick. Knife vs. knife. Knife vs. some gun threats. There are 4 combat scenario prep modules, 1- The "Spartan Module," where the impact disarm worked, 2-"Chain of the Knife" where the impact disarm did not work and you must try to grab the weapon limb after hitting, stopping the weapon arm with your knife, 3-"Death Grip of the Knife" (formally In the Clutches Of) when the opponent also grabs your weapon bearing limb. 4-"Rattlesnake Drills" - knife ground-fighting. These four set the stage, prepare people for freestyle combat scenarios which end with the opponent surrendering, wounded or in worst cases...dead. This video dissects the classic Chain, the first link of survival is latching onto, linking onto the weapon bearing limb. The first part of this video was shot in an underground military base on the Finland, Russian border. The extra 2 "bonus" parts...the second part at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas, and the third in Iowa. It's free and 58 minutes long. “But it’s always been this way!!!!” Na dawg. It ain’t been. This is why when people say “The Fundamentals” like it means something I question it. I have been taught four, six, and eight fundamentals, two definitions of sight alignment and two firing tasks on just rifles. That doesn’t cover the five fundamentals for pistols, eight for machine guns and zero for launching shoulder fired missiles. So which fundamentals am I supposed to apply? See TC 3-22.9 for the answer.

We dislike the phrase "I/we have always done it this way" - our response is always the same; that doesn't mean you have always been right! Interestingly, the British Armed Forces teach the 4 marksmanship principles and the 9 point key checklist (standard for rifle and machine guns). Everybody can recite them verbatim, and in order. But very few can explain them in laymens terms. Who is the better coach? the person who can make you write something down as they regurgitate it, or the person who can break it down to the simplest form to help you understand, but can then also see your errors and help you correct them? Pat Macnamara (I think) uses a term like "inbreeding through indoctrination" - hits the nail on the head! Do the words you use resonate with everybody you are talking to? Are you able to breakdown what you are saying to its simplest form?

Russian TG channel on this video depicting a "Mad Max"-type DIY: "An example of assembling a heavy APC based on the T-72B3 tank by one of the Russian repair units. Instead of a turret, an armored capsule for a 6-man landing force is organized with a layer of bricks between two armor sheets covered with rubber on top. Additionally, the landing force is covered from above with an anti-drone visor with a layer of logs and rubber. The vehicle will be equipped with a makeshift mine trawl at the front. There is a request for such equipment from below (regular soldiers) - there is no response to this request from above (higher command echelons). We have to make do with our own efforts. As always." https://lnkd.in/e7maAhEq

There ya have it folks... Because it's a Gatling Gun, that's why! Some hobbies are more expensive than others. M134 Minigun The M134 Minigun is an American 7.62×51mm NATO six-barrel rotary machine gun with a high rate of fire (2,000 to 6,000 rounds per minute). It features a Gatling-style rotating barrel assembly with an external power source, normally an electric motor. The "Mini" in the name is in comparison to larger-caliber designs that use a rotary barrel design, such as General Electric's earlier 20 mm M61 Vulcan, and "gun" for the use of rifle ammunition as opposed to autocannon shells.
