When Stacey Richter posted this, I was still putting the final touches on my video on #artificialintelligence and was itching to get it out to couple it with her interview. If you have time, listen to this conversation and then check out my video (https://lnkd.in/gA3UFb5E). Pay particular attention to the 2nd point ("I know it when I see it."). If you want to get particularly #healthcare economics and policy nerdy, add Chris Deacon's recent post on The Wall Street Journal article about "upcoding" by #MedicareAdvantage insurers to get higher reimbursement (https://lnkd.in/g6UUeSX3). The TLDR is that we can say, "We will pay for value and value care more if you take care of sick patients really well." The reality is that it is far more difficult to execute. 1️⃣ You need good #data. 2️⃣ Those data has to have meaning and connected with a measurement of value. 3️⃣ Everyone needs to agree on what is the meaning and that measurement of value. 4️⃣ Finally, that value has to be connected with a sensible financial reimbursement. We haven't even accomplished the first step.
Co-President, Aventria and QC-Health. Host of Relentless Health Value - award-winning podcast about healthcare value.
The tricky part in healthcare is if you don’t create win-wins across a bunch of different boards, value won’t be realized for patients. And the problem with that is the number of zero-sum games we have afoot around here in the healthcare industry, which make this really difficult.
