Attending the Vancouver Maritime Centre for Climate Greenship 2024 Conference was an inspiring experience for GVHA's Sustainability Manager, Rowan Benning. She gained valuable insights into how other ports are advancing decarbonization through innovative strategies and approaches. The clear takeaway? We don’t have time to wait—and, thankfully, we don’t need to. There are already fantastic examples here in the Province and across the Pacific Northwest that demonstrate what can be achieved through collaboration. The keyword of the day was collaboration in all its forms: • Knowledge sharing to drive innovation • Joint procurement to scale solutions • Project financing to accelerate clean energy transitions The most impactful session for Rowan was Ports and Clean Energy Transition, where she learned about practical steps ports are taking to lead the way in sustainability. But this project isn't just about discovery – it's a powerful example of connecting finance to environmental stewardship. In SailGP races, teams compete not just for the race podium, but also for the Impact League Podium. This innovative approach rewards positive environmental and social contributions, proving it's not just about racing boats - it's about racing to protect our oceans. This project showcases how finance and science can unite for environmental stewardship. Because a healthy economy depends on a healthy environment meaning financial leadership goes hand in hand with environmental responsibility. In Vado Gateway we live the sea everyday very closely. This ecosystem also represents our home and place of work, for this reason we decided to make a further commitment and collaborate with One Ocean Foundation by supporting the evolution and refinement of the first assessment tool for companies on issues related to ocean protection. The Ocean Disclosure Initiative (ODI) by One Ocean Foundation is developed in collaboration with SDA Bocconi School of Management, McKinsey & Company and CONSEJO SUPERIOR DE INVESTIGACIONES CIENTÍFICAS the Spanish National Research Council. This framework, through a system of standard guidelines and metrics, will help Vado Gateway in becoming even more aware of its impact on marine ecosystems and will support us in assessing related risks and disclosing key information and strategic responses. #VadoGateway #GoGreen #APMTerminals

🌍 Manuel Marsilio, CONEBI General Manager, will be one of the panelists on the transition pathway for a green, digital, and resilient EU mobility industrial ecosystem at a roundtable hosted by the European Commission on the #MobilityTransitionPathway in Brussels tomorrow, 29 February 2024. ✅ This event aims to gather officials from the European Commission and stakeholders from the mobility industries, including rail, waterborne, automotive, and #cycling to engage in a political dialogue on the future of the industrial transition in Europe. This event follows the publication of the Transition Pathway for the European Mobility Industrial Ecosystem report by the European Commission in January 2024. ✅ During the event, the European Commission’s DG GROW will kickstart the co-implementation phase by inviting companies and associations to make pledges through an online stakeholder support platform.
